Mumbai, Oct 10: Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has emerged as the most sensational celebrity to search for online in 2017, according to a study by McAfee, one of the world’s leading independent cybersecurity companies. He replaces Sonakshi Sinha in the McAfee Most Sensational Celebrities list 2017.

For the 11th year in a row, McAfee researched famous individuals to reveal the riskiest celebrity to search for online. The research reveals which Bollywood icons generate the riskiest search results that could potentially expose their fans to malicious websites.

Salman Khan comes in the second place followed closely by Aamir Khan (No. 3). Among the female celebrities, actor and singer Priyanka Chopra stands 4th in the list, who was No. 7 in 2016, followed by Anushka Sharma (No. 5), Sunny Leone (No. 6) and Kangana Ranaut (No. 7). Ranveer Singh (No. 8), Shahid Kapoor (No. 9) and Tiger Shroff (No. 10) round out the rest of the top 10 list.

Cybercriminals continue to use the fascination of consumers with celebrity culture to drive unsuspecting users to potentially malicious websites that can be used to install malware, steal personal information and even passwords. The study, conducted by McAfee and now in its 11th year, highlights the dangers of clicking on suspicious links when searching for celebrity-focused content, according to a press statement.

“With today’s digital explosion, the gap between celebrities and their fans has diminished. There’s a looming interest among Indians to know more about their favorite icons, for which there’s a deluge of fresh and readily consumable content made available.” said Venkat Krishnapur, Head of R&D Operations, McAfee.

“Cybercriminals are leveraging this interest and preying on consumer vulnerabilities when they compromise on security in favor of convenience. In today’s fast evolving cybersecurity environment, this haste for consumption can be used for malicious intent. Thinking before clicking is as imperative as adopting the right security solutions to stay safe online.”

Kochi, Jun 27: The Kerala government on Friday submitted an application in a local court requesting to stop the prosecution of ivory possession case against Malayalam film actor Mohanlal.

In the application for withdrawal of prosecution, the government has requested the court to stop the prosecution "immediately for the interest of justice".

''The legality of the possession of two elephant tusks by Mohanlal was accepted by the competent authority under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 by issuing him a certificate of ownership. The possession and custody of the elephant tusks thus become legal after the Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW) issued him the certificate," the state government said.

"Further conduct of the criminal trial may go against the good faith amongst the parties as far as the certificate of ownership issued to Mohanlal is concerned. One cannot go back from that ownership certificate and it was stopped from contradicting, deny or declare to be false the previous statement made by the actor in the court," it added.

"The government should not be allowed to revert from its promises in order to keep the faith of the people and in the interest of good governance," the government further said.

The case was registered by the forest department in 2012. The state government submitted the application in Kuruppampady Judicial Magistrate Court, which will hear the matter on July 24.
