Bengaluru, May 6: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today appealed to the Centre to intervene and see that the NEET exam was held in the State for over 500 aspirants who missed writing the Test due to delay in the arrival of Ballari-Bangalore Hampi Express allegedly for more than 7 hours.

Following a direction by the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Vijaya Bhaskar contacted the Human Resources Ministry in this regard and the officials have assured to look into the matter.

Kumaraswamy tweeted, “Hundreds of students from North Karnataka districts have missed the #NEET Exam being held today (Sunday) at Bengaluru due to a 7-hour delay of the Hampi Express. A last-minute change in the exam Centres and lack of proper communication of the same has created confusion among students.”

He added, “I request PM @narendramodi, Rail Minister @PiyushGoyal, @HRDMinistry, @PrakashJavdekar to intervene and ensure that students who have missed the opportunity today get another chance to write the #NEET2019Exam.”

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal for this. He tweeted, “Mr. @narendramodi, You pat your own back for others’ achievements but will you also take the responsibility for your cabinet min’ incapabilities. Hundreds of students in Karnataka may not be able to take up NEET because of delay in the train services.”

In a subsequent tweet, he added, “Mr. @narendramodi, Ask @PiyushGoyal to work properly for next few days and then we will set it right. Also, ensure that the aggrieved students get another chance to write NEET exam.”

Kumaraswamy, earlier in the day, held a meeting with Chief Secretary and concerned officials in this regard on Monday.

Bengaluru, Aug 6: Firebrand BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday said that control of state power by Hindus is absolutely essential for sustenance of Dharma.

His comments, in a series of tweets, came on a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lord Ram temple at Ayodhya.

"Dear Hindus, Most important lesson is that control of State power by Hindus is absolutely essential for sustenance of Dharma. When we didn't control State, we lost our temple. When we regained, we rebuilt. The 282 (seats) in 2014 and 303 (seats) in 2019 to Sri Narendra Modi made today possible!", Surya, who is also the party's BJP youth Wing state general secretary, tweeted.

He also said that the survival of India depends on the survival of Sanatana Dharma.

"The Sanatana Dharma, that is nationalism,' Sri Aurobindo had said in his Uttarapara speech. But what does it mean? Along with Jai Sri Ram, the purohits also chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai - That is Dharmic nationalism. If Dharma survives, India survives," he said in another tweet.
