Karnataka BJP celebrates abolition of Article 370, hail Modi-Shah

Bengaluru, Aug 5: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa joined many BJP leaders and right wing groups in Karnataka in welcoming abolition of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the "historic" decision.

"Article 370 and 35 A will be removed from Jammu and Kashmir, This state will be Union Territory.

Good news for all the Indians, this is historic resolution! Salute to Narendra ModiJi led Government.

Vandematram, Jai Hind," Yediyurappa tweeted.

Remembering Jan Sangh founder Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, party general secretary in Karnataka and Chikkamagalur MLA C T Ravi said Modi and Shah have undone the "Himalayan blunder" of the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

"Indians will forever be indebted to the "KarmaYogi" (Narendra Modi) and "Chanakya" (Amit Shah) for their momentous decision," Ravi said.

Former minister and Rajajinagar BJP MLA S Suresh Kumar called it a historic day and said the decision to do away with Article 370 was a tribute to Jan Sangh leader.

"The soul of martyr Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee will get peace today," Kumar tweeted.

BJP's firebrand leader Anantkumar Hegde congratulated Modi and Shah, tweeting that "A curse being suffered by the past 2 generations has been wiped off today.

The sacred day would become immortal in the annals of Bharat Varsh (India) as one of the historical blunder is amended," he said.

As news of the government revoking Article 370 came in, thousands of BJP workers across the state celebrated, distributing sweets and bursting crackers at Davangere, Hubballi, Mangaluru, Udupi, Raichur, Mysuru, Tumakuru and Gulbarga, among others.

Belagavi, Mar 7: Karnataka Urban Development Minister B A Basavaraj on Saturday said that government would a take decision very soon regarding conducting city corporations election in the state.

Speaking with the media after review meeting at Belagavi city corporation (BCC) here he further said that delimitation exercise of the wards has to be done followed by reservations.

The minister stated that discussions would be held with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and would arrive at a decision to conduct the election in about a month’s time.

Udupi, Jan 25: Mangalore International Airport (MIA) culprit Aditya Rao has revealed that after placing the explosive device he went to Malpe and made threat call of placing bomb in the Indigo flight.

Rao, who is in police custody, on Saturday, was brought to Malpe under tight security by the investigating officer ACP Belliyappa for spot investigation. On January 20, Aditya had come to the Mangaluru airport and planted an explosive device before going to Malpe and made a threat call about placing a bomb in the Indigo flight. He was just a couple of kilometers away from the Malpe police station while making the call.

Sitting outside an egg selling shop which opens only after 6:00 pm, Aditya had called the Airport and informed that a bomb was placed in the Indigo flight. Later he destroyed the sim card and left to Bengaluru to surrender.

Mangaluru, July 29: The police have managed to nab a youth in connection with issuing death threat against IAS officer Sindhu B Rupesh, the outgoing deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada.

The arrested has been identified as Ranjit, a resident of Bajpe, on the outskirts of the city. He is said to be Hindutva activist. 

The death threat came in the wake of the officer’s warning against attack on cattle traders by anti-social elements ahead of Eid al-Adha. 

Even though the IAS officer had not lodged any complaint, Moodbidri police had registered a suo motu case after a WhatsApp screenshot of the death threat went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Sindhu B Rupesh was transferred and posted as director, electronic delivery citizen services (EDCS), DP & AR (e governance) Bengaluru.
