Karnataka BJP MLC Mahantesh posts porn photos on media WhatsApp group

Belagavi, May 3: BJP leader and MLC Mahantesh M Kavatagimath has caused a fresh embarrassment to the saffron party by posting nude pictures of women on the Belagavi Media Force WhatsApp group formed for sharing news and intimations.Mahantesh

The senior legislator shared over 50 pictures, much to the embarrassment of the group members. The WhatsApp group comprises senior officials including deputy commissioner, police officials of various ranks, the Belagavi police commissioner, Belagavi district superintendent of police, police inspectors, member of parliament, Zilla Panchayat members, city councillors, women officials of various departments, social activists and representatives of media houses.

Kavatagimath, around 4.20 pm, posted over 56 PDF files that comprised over 50 pictures of nude women from his official mobile phone. Sharing objectionable contents on social media platforms is a serious offence and violation of cyber laws.

Even as the group members noticed the obnoxious postings, there was brisk activity in the group. Admins of the WhatsApp group started quitting from the group, senior officials remained tightlipped, while women officers who were embarrassed, left with serious remarks condemning the postings.

Most of the group members were stunned and expressed shock. Kavatagimath, who even failed to regret the postings, was removed from the group by the group admin. The MLC was not available for comments as he had switched off his mobile phone.

Belgaum, Feb 24: Around 20 people entered a boys' hostel premises in Karnataka's Belgaum with rods and bats and destroyed properties allegedly over ragging of a girl by two hostel residents.

The incident took place on February 23 and was captured in the CCTV camera.

According to Belgaum Police, a gang of 20 people entered Dr BR Ambedkar post metric hostel premises in Belgaum with rods and bats. The group destroyed the properties of hostel, bikes, and scooters.

Police said this is an issue of ragging and during the incident, no students were injured.

Further, the investigation is underway.

Belagavi, Jun 6: Suspecting that cow meat was being transported to Goa, unidentified persons set goods vehicle on fire near Karle village in Belagavi taluk last night.

The Incident came to the fore on Saturday morning.

Usually, vehicles carrying vegetables, milk and other essentials being transported to Goa and other towns plying via Karle village near Belagavi.

Sources said that for the past few days vehicles carrying meat were stopped and were handed over to police by section of activists suspecting it to be cow meat.

Persons who set the vehicle on fire were yet to be identified. Jurisdictional Belagavi Rural police have rushed to the spot. More details were awaited.

Bengaluru, May 31: As many as 299 fresh covid-19 cases reported in Karnataka today. Most of them have interstate travel history.

With this total number of covid-19 cases in Karnataka rose to 3221. 

District wise cases: Raichur 83, Yadgir 44, Bidar 33, Kalaburagi 28, Vijayapura 26, Bengaluru Urban 21, Dakshina Kannada 14, Mandya 13, Belagavi 13, Udupi 10, Davangere 6, Uttara Kannada 5, Ballari, Shivamogga, Kolar 1 each.

Two more deaths reported in the state. One of the patients is a 50 year old male from Raichuru district, who returned from Maharashtra. Another is a 75 year old man, a resident of containment zone in Bidar. With this the number of COVID 19 related deaths rose to 51.
