Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer releases data showing actual voting-EVM count match

Bengaluru, Jun 2: Amid allegations of mismatch, the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer on June 1 released data, which shows a total match between the actual voting and the electronic voting machine countduring the Lok Sabha election.

Polling for the Lok Sabha in the state had taken place on April 18 and April 23. The Karnataka State Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao had Friday alleged that there was a 'glaring mismatch' between the actual voting and the EVM count.

To allay doubts, the CEOs office Saturday released the data afresh. According to the data, there is a total match between the actual voting and the EVM count.

Rao had earlier tweeted "Glaring mismatch in EVM machines figures and Election Commission of India doesnt seem to have any answers. In a democracy, transparency in the electoral process is of paramount importance. ECI needs to clarify quickly and clearly."

Following the Congress outstanding performance in the urban local body elections Friday, Rao tweeted "#KarnatakaUrbanLocalBodiesElections, winning almost 42 % of the seats, it clearly shows that the people of Karnataka are with the Congress.

What surprises me is how did BJP lose after winning by huge margins in the Lok Sabha. Needs investigation." The BJP had won 25 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats, leaving a mere one seat each to the Congress and JDS, which, despite a joint fight, were swept away by the Modi wave.

Bengaluru, Mar 7: Karnataka on Friday announced that there are no positive cases of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19 in the state till date.

"To date, 717 persons have been identified for observation, of them, 236 persons have completed 28 days of observation and 469 persons are continuing under home quarantine. 8 persons are admitted to selected isolation hospitals, " the state government said in a release today.

"Around 343 samples of symptomatic persons are sent for testing and 296 samples are reported as negative. No positive cases of Coronavirus in the state to date," it said.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa earlier in the week assured people in state about the preparedness to tackle coronavirus.

He said, "We have issued instructions to all hospitals. We have made all the arrangements. People in Karnataka should not worry."

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan earlier today held a review meeting with states over preparedness for coronavirus. State governments have been asked to keep the testing and quarantine facilities, isolation wards and labs in active readiness.

The country's total number of positive cases of coronavirus touched 31 today. COVID-19 has so far killed more than 3200 people globally.

Bengaluru, Jul 28: As many as 5,536 new COVID-19 cases and 102 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Tuesday, according to the State Health Department.

With these new cases of coronavirus, the total number of positive cases in the state stands at 1,07,001 including 64,434 active cases, 40,504 discharges and 2,055 deaths.

India on Tuesday reported 47,704 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's count of coronavirus cases to 14,83,157, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Out of the total cases, there are 4,96,988 active cases in the country while the number of patients cured/discharged and migrated stands at 9,52,744. With 654 deaths due to COVID-19 in the country reported in the last 24 hours, the death toll rises to 33,425.

Mangaluru, May 11: Hundreds of migrant labourers today gathered at a service bus stand in Mangaluru to return to Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

They were working in different parts of Dakshina Kannada and remained stranded without a job after the announcement of lockdown.

Labourers said that they have not registered with Seva Sindhu portal to avail pass for travelling outside the state.

Though all the people who gathered wore a mask, the physical distancing norm was not followed.

Already three Shramik trains from Mangaluru had left for Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar with nearly 3,500 stranded labourers in the last two days.

The gathered labourers are anticipating that they would be allowed to travel to their destinations in the Shramik trains that will leave in the evening from Mangaluru.

The doctors and paramedical staff who have arrived the spot are checking the health of the labourers before allowing them to travel to the railway station.

The cost of a ticket to Uttar Pradesh is Rs 1,040 per person (which includes bus fare from service bus stand to railway station, food and water bottle).
