Karnataka govt decides to waive off farm loan at one go

Bengaluru, Jun 12: Clearing a confusion over the disbursement of the farm loan availed by the farmers, from commercial banks, the Karnataka government had decided to clear it at one go.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday announced the decision to waive off the farm loan availed from the commercial banks in one instalment, as against the original plan to do it in four years of time.

With this decision of the state government, the farmers who had availed loans from the Commercial banks, including that of restructured loans (Rs 2812 Crore), Overdue loan (Rs 3057 Crore) and incentive for regular loans) Rs 720 Crore) will be waived off at one go.

The State government so far has released Rs 3930 Crore toward as many as 7.49 lakh crop loan accounts.

The State government has already released Rs 4830 crore for about 11.20 lakh accounts.
It may be recalled that the farm Loan waiver scheme, was the flagship programme of the JDS-Congress coalition government, however had received a huge flak for not implementing it properly.

Mangaluru, Jul 16: Streets in Mangaluru wore a deserted look as the city woke up to the first morning of the seven-day lockdown on Thursday.

The lockdown is being observed after the state government announced it as a necessary step to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The week-long total shutdown came into effect in the Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district from 8 pm on July 15 till 5 am on July 22.

The state government allowed relaxation between 8am to 11 am for purchasing of essential commodities. A slight rush was observed during the hours of the relaxation.

Karnataka has so far reported 47,253 positive COVID-19 cases, including 27,859 active cases and 18,466 recoveries.

So far, 928 people have lost their lives due to the infectious virus in the state.

New Delhi, May 1: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday issued an order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to further extend the lockdown for a further period of two weeks beyond May 4.

The current lockdown period is scheduled to end on May 3.

"After a comprehensive review and in view of the lockdown measures having led to significant gains, the COVID-19 situation in the country, Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, today, to further extend the lockdown for a further period of two weeks beyond May 4, 2020," read the order of the Home Ministry.

In red zones and outside containment zones, certain activities including plying of cycle rickshaws and auto-rickshaws, taxis and cab aggregators, intra-district and inter-district plying of buses and barber shops, spas and salons will be prohibited in addition to those prohibited throughout India.

A limited number of activities will remain prohibited across the country, irrespective of the zone, including travel by air, rail, metro and inter-state movement by road, running of schools, colleges, and other educational and training/coaching institutions, the order said.

This came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with chief ministers of several states last month where some of them suggested extension of lockdown.

Mangaluru, Mar 30: Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Natekal, has started online tele-consultation service in the constituent Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre amid fear of corona spread.
 
A statement issued here on Monday said, under this service people can contact the doctors sitting in their home. The doctors will give tele-consultation and medical advice for their health problems through WhatsApp. As per the Kanachur Hospital announcement for this purpose the specialist doctors of nine departments will give their tele-consultation from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs.
 
The people who are not having the social media service (WhatsApp) from rural areas they can directly contact the concerned department specialists over phone by informing the disease details and obtain advises from the doctors through the hospital landline number 0824-2888000.
