Belagavi, Jan 15: Belagavi District in-charge Minister M B Patil said that stern action will be taken against Goa state, if its Irrigation Minister Vinod Palyekar and its Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, do not unconditionally apologise for the foul language used to describe Kannadigas.
Patil assured on Monday, that after discussing the matter with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka government will take action against its neighbour for Palyekar's remark calling Kannadigas 'haramis' on Sunday.
The Karnataka Raskhana Vedike (Karave) activists and the state Working Committee of pro-Kannada organisations has urged the government to impose 'economic' sanctions against Goa state.
They have urged that all supply of vegetables, milk and electricity to Goa must be halted immediately.
"Goan minister Palyekar has used foul language to divert the attention of the public from the drama Goa Chief Minister Parrikar and Karnataka BJP President B S Yeddyurappa have been enacting," added Patil.
