Bengaluru, May 9: The Karnataka Government has released Rs 324 crore for relief works in drought prone districts in the State, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Krishna Byregowda, said here today.
Briefing newsmen after Cabinet meeting here, he said that the cabinet has decided to release Rs 2 crore to each of the 176 Taluks affected in the State to ensure proper supply of drinking water, creation of jobs and fodder for live stocks to avoid distress sale of cattle by the farmers.
Stating that the State government has released Rs 2800 crore towards works relating to provide drinking water projects, he said that “this year we have released Rs 201 crore for emergency works for supply of drinking water”.
