Karnataka II PU exam results on April 15

Bengaluru, Apr 13: The department of pre-university education (DPUE), Karnataka said results of the II PU exams held in March will be announced at noon on April 15.

This is the first time that results of second-year PU exams will be declared before the Common Entrance Test (CET) is held. CET 2019 is scheduled for April 29, 30 and May 1.

DPUE director C Shikha said results will be announced at the office at 11am on Monday and students can check them after noon on pue.kar.nic.in and karresults.nic.in. She also said colleges in the state will publish the results on April 16.

As many as 6.6 lakh students appeared for the II PU exams held between March 1 and 18. About 2,500 students were denied hall tickets due to shortage of attendance (less than 75%). For the first time, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus was implemented for economics, business studies and accounts.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has said students appearing for CET can download the hall tickets from kea.kar.nic.

II PU results are being announced before completion of CET to ensure there’s no pressure on students ahead of entrance exams. Former director of the department, PC Jaffer, had hinted at the early announcement of II PU results. Jaffer was recently posted as Mandya deputy commissioner and Shikha replaced him.

According to department sources, they are expecting a dip in the number of candidates appearing for CET because of early announcement of II PU results. Students who secure less marks in the science stream or a low aggregate may not take CET. However, officials have advised students not to skip CET even if they fail to clear II PU exams as they can do better in supplementary exams.

Davanagere, Apr 8: BJP MLA from Honnali constituency, MP Renukacharya, said that the government should not ignore those who attended Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi and are escaping detection, and it is not wrong if the person is shot.

"Anyone who attended Tablighi meet, is not coming out for medical checkups and is escaping detection. The government should not ignore them. Even if he is shot, it is not wrong. Otherwise, the virus will spread throughout the entire country. In China it started with one person," Renukacharya said on Tuesday.

"We are suffering because someone is not coming for check-up. I request them to come voluntarily to the doctors and District Magistrates. Not all minorities are terrorists and not all of them are anti-nationals," he added.

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking direction for the government to impose a complete ban on all activities of the Tablighi Jamaat with immediate effect.

Over 1,000 coronavirus cases in India are linked to Tablighi Jamaat gathering. Hundreds of people who are related to Tablighi Jamaat have been quarantined.

Bengaluru, Aug 3: A building of Bengaluru's civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), on Broadway Road in Shivajinagar, is being developed into a COVID dedicated hospital with 200 beds, Karnataka Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar said on Sunday.

The hospital will be functional in two weeks, said Sudhakar.

"BBMP building in Broadway Road is converted into Covid hospital. Setting up of infrastructure like beds, ventilators, oxygen etc is underway.

All necessary staff for this hospital including doctors, nurses and paramedical staff have been already deployed and the work is on fast track," Sudhakar tweeted.

He also thanked Infosys foundation and it's Chairperson Sudha Murthy for immediately responding to government's request and providing infrastructure for this hospital.

In a tweet, Sudhakar thanked the doctors for their service to combat COVID-19 in the state.
"These doctors have extended helping hand in these corona times without any expectations. I salute their spirit of service and professionalism," Minister said in a tweet.

According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 1,34,819 COVID-19 cases in the state.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Wednesday said that 200 people, out of 342 from the state who had attended the religious gathering at Markaz building in Delhi's Nizamuddin area, have been quarantined.

"200 people including four from Bengaluru and five from Belgaum, who participated in Tablighi Jamaat (in Delhi's Nizamuddin), have been quarantined. Total 342 people from Karnataka had attended the event," Sriramulu told reporters here.

The gatherings organised by the Tablighi Jamaat at the Markaz building in Nizamuddin came into the spotlight after multiple coronavirus cases were confirmed amongst those who attended the event held in March.
Twenty-four cases were reported from the national capital alone, apart from Telangana, the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands amongst others.

The minister had earlier said that Bengaluru Urban and Mysuru have been identified among the prime 25 COVID-19 hotspots in the country.
Chikkaballapur, since the last fourteen days, has been emerging as another hotspot, according to Sriramulu.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has risen to 1,637 after 240 new cases were reported in the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases rose to 1466 in the country, while 132 people have been cured and discharged after receiving treatment, as of 9 am.
