Karnataka II PUC results 2019: 61.73% pass; Udupi No 1, DK No 2

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Karnataka second PU results 2018-19 witnessed a passing 61.73%. The results were announced on Monday, April 15. Compared to last year's results (59.56% in 2017-18) the results this year have gone up by 2.17%.

As many as 6,71,653 students had written the 2nd PUC exam and a total of 4,14,587 students passed. The students can check their result online from the direct link provided below:

Udupi district has topped list with 92. 20 per cent, followed by Dakshina Kannada with 90.91%. Chitradurga district has secured 51. 42 per cent and is at the bottom of the list.

Girls have once again outdone boys with 68.24% pass percentage, whereas boys have scored 55.29%.

Besides, rural students have scored more than the urban. Karnataka's rural PU students scored 62.88% and urban students secured 61.38%.

Students with special needs have performed well. 391 students with Dyslexia had appeared for the exam and 236 of them passed with a total of 60.35%.

Pass percentage among Ortho impaired students is 69.83%. Visually impaired students have got total 76.14% pass percentage.

A total of 80 colleges have got 100 percent results while 98 colleges have scored zero percent result.

As per the statement issued by the Department Of Pre-University Education, Karnataka, 2447 students secured 100 out of 100 in Mathematics paper.

The exams were held from March 1 to March 18 for 39 subjects totally. In view of the Lok-sabha elections, the Pre-university exams were held early this year and results also announced early. Evaluation of the Second PU exam papers had begun on March 25.

Resolution in Kerala Assembly is against unconstitutional Act passed by Centre: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 1: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that the resolution passed by the Kerala Assembly is against the "unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre".

"The resolution passed by Kerala Assembly is against the unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre. It has been noticed by the whole country," Vijayan said.

The Kerala Assembly had on Tuesday passed a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Before the resolution was passed against the Act, Vijayan in a special Assembly session targeted RSS and said that citizenship law is part of an agenda.

"The CAA is part of an agenda. Muslims are being considered as internal enemies by RSS, who is controlling the ruling dispensation at the Centre," he alleged.

The new law grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday while talking about women safety, the Chief Minister said, "Those women, who are traveling face many problems, particularly regarding accommodation. To address this, government will start accommodation facilities in all towns. This project will be implemented with the help of local bodies."

Reacting to the development in the Kerala Assembly, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Assembly has insulted the Constitution and parliament by passing a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"The Constitution has delineated clearly the roles of parliament and state legislatures. When people who have taken an oath of the constitution, destroy it, it is a most irresponsible act. Both the houses of parliament have passed CAA and if a state assembly tries to hijack the Act it is an insult not only of the constitution but the parliament as well," Naqvi told news agency.

MPs are taking oath to respect and safeguard indian constitution and not to disrespect it and go agaisnt the teachings of constitution. What Central Govt has done is 100 perent agaisnt the constitution and every citizen has the right to oppose this. You are definately go with the Govt as you are paid for it. But dont force other too to follow you. What Kerala Govt has done is according to will of people and Central Govtr should respect it.

Free bus facility for stranded workers within Karnataka for three days, says CM

Bengaluru, May 3: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday said that his government has allowed labourers to travel to their hometowns in the state on KSRTC buses free of charge for three days starting on Sunday.

"Labourers have been allowed to travel in KSRTC buses free of charge from the district centres and capital Bengaluru to their hometowns in Karnataka for three days from today," Yediyurappa said.

"The government will bear the cost of travel. The concern is that a large number of labourers should not assemble at any bus stop," he added.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on May 1, issued an order to extend the ongoing lockdown by two more weeks from May 4 and also allowed the movement of migrant workers, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places, by special trains.

Karnataka Minister CT Ravi tests positive for COVID-19

Bengaluru, Jul 13: Karnataka Minister CT Ravi has tested positive for COVID-19. However, his wife and staff members have tested negative.

"Yesterday, I along with my wife Pallavi and my staff members underwent COVID-19 test. Fortunately, my wife Pallavi and all my staff members are tested negative. Third umpire's result for me has confirmed that I'm COVID Positive. However, I'm feeling absolutely fine," Ravi tweeted.

"For now, I'll continue to work from here and undergo treatment. Very soon, I'll get cured and come back to work with you all," he added.
So far, Karnataka has reported 36,216 COVID-19 cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
