Karnataka: PKKHS workers detained for staging protest demanding separate state

Kalaburagi, Nov 1: The workers of Pratyeka Kalyan Karnataka Horata Samiti (PKKHS) on Friday were detained after they staged a protest here demanding a separate state.

Today on Karnataka State Formation Day, PKKHS workers during the protest alleged that the districts of Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Bidar, Koppal, Bellari and Raichur are under-developed.

Kalyana Karnataka member Vinod Kumar told ANI, "We will hoist a new Karnataka flag at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel circle on Karnataka Rajyotsava day. For many years we were neglected in development but now we also want development of these Hyderabad-Karnataka regions like Mysuru. We are demanding a separate state for the North Karnataka region comprising of six districts as there has been no development in this part of the state."

"I am 45-year-old, uneducated and my parents are still working as labourers. People are not getting proper education and are economically weak. We want separate state and will name the new sate as Kalyan Karnataka.," he added.

27-year-old corona warrior Khaleel who helped poor during lockdown dies of covid-19

Mysuru, Aug 1: A young covid-19 warrior and activist has become the latest victim of novel coronavirus in Karnataka’s Mysuru district.

The deceased is Khaleel ur Rahman (27), who was the office manager at Farooqia College of Pharmacy.

During Covid-19 lockdown, he was working as a volunteer and was part of Mysuru City Corporation team also which is involved in the covid related work.

Khaleel was also part of the team formed by IAS officer P Manivannan, who led the crucial Covid-19 relief efforts across Karnataka. He was also an activist of Social Democratic Party of India.

During the lockdown, he was distributing groceries and other necessary things among poor and migrants in Mysuru.

Recently he fell ill and admitted to a private hospital. He was suffering from breathing difficulties. He breathed his last in the hospital without responding to any treatment.

Domestic flights in India to resume in calibrated manner from May 25

New Delhi, May 20: In further relaxation of lockdown rules, domestic flights will begin operations from May 25 in a calibrated manner. Currently, only cargo and evacuation flight services are allowed.

The nationwide lockdown to halt the spread of coronavirus is in place till May 31. However, certain relaxations have been allowed.

All airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from next week, tweeted civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The standard operating procedures for passenger movement will be separately issued by the ministry, said the minister.

Mangaluru | 3-year-old child crushed to death under speeding car

Mangaluru, Jun 29: A three year old child lost its life after being hit by a car at Nadupadavu village under the limits of Konaje police station on the outskirts of the city today.

The victim has been identified as Faheema (3), daughter of Farooq, a resident of Nadupadavu.

The mishap occurred when the girl ran towards the road when the car was entering a main road from an inner road.
