Karnataka polls: With assets over Rs 1,020-cr Priya Krishna is the richest candidate

Bengaluru, Apr 21: This 34-year-old Congress candidate from Govindarajanagar in Bengaluru with assets worth over Rs 1,020 crore appears to be the richest candidate in the fray for May 12, 2018 Karnataka assembly polls.

The incumbent MLA of Govindarajanagar, Priya Krishna, son of Housing Minister M Krishnappa aka Layout Krishnappa was the richest candidate in 2013 too with the declared assets of Rs 910.9 crore. In five years he saw a growth of 11%.

Priya Krishna was first elected from Govindarajanagar in the 2009 bypoll. Most of the immoveable assets of this young politician are ‘gifted,’ as he mentions in the affidavit accompanying the nomination papers for the election.

N. Nagaraju, the Congress candidate from Hosakote, has more than doubled his wealth at Rs. 1,010 crore. In 2013, the businessman had declared Rs. 470.13 crore. D.K. Shivakumar, Energy Minister, may be the third richest candidate this time after reporting wealth of Rs. 841.372 crore now.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.

Mangaluru, Apr 13: City Commissioner of police P S Harsha on Monday warned people, not to use drones illegally for filming or any other purposes.

Speaking with this regard Harsha said on Monday ,''“We have noticed that persons are illegally using drones to film Mangaluru city. If this continues, we will not only seize the drone but will also take firm legal action against the person responsible. Because Mangaluru is a sensitive place with lots of vital installations.''

He further requested the media houses also not to hire drone services for filming or any other purposes.

Mangaluru, Jan 8: A 23-year-old youth has been booked under the POCSO Act on charges of abduction and sexual abuse of a minor girl.

Police said on Wednesday day that the accused identified as Aneesh Dias, a resident of Chikkamadnur has reportedly gone absconding. The victim, who hails from Puttur, is a I PU college student.

The victim's parents had filed a missing complaint with Puttur Rural police as their daughter did not return home after leaving home for college. The police investigating the complaint traced the girl.
