Kasaragod, Mar 28: A 44-year-old man died after being struck by lightning at Timiri in the district on Friday.
K. Balakrishnan was working in his paddy field around 4 p.m. when lightning struck, the police said.
He was rushed to a hospital at Cheruvathur and shifted to the Pariyaram medical college hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Earlier, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that domestic flight operations will resume from May 25 noting that all airlines and airports were ready but it is not viable to keep the middle seat vacant as it will lead to hike in the ticket price and prescribed social distancing norms would still not be met.

Mangaluru, Jul 2: A BJP MLA in Dakshina Kannada has tested positive for covid-19.
Dr Bharat Shetty, who represents Mangaluru North Assembly constituency, took to Twitter to confirm the news.
“I have been tested covid-19 positive. With all your blessings, I'm recovering and will be under treatment for few days,” he tweeted.
He also requested the people to maintain social distancing, wear masks while going out and wash hands frequently.
