Kasaragod, Mar 28: A 44-year-old man died after being struck by lightning at Timiri in the district on Friday.
K. Balakrishnan was working in his paddy field around 4 p.m. when lightning struck, the police said.
He was rushed to a hospital at Cheruvathur and shifted to the Pariyaram medical college hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Mysuru, Jan 11: Accusing the Congress and other opposition parties of pursuing “vote bank politics” on the Citizenship (Amendment ) Act (CAA), Kannada littérateur and Saraswathi Samman awardee S L Byrappa accused the party of misleading the people on the issue.

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday inaugurated a mobile Covid-19 testing booth in Bengaluru.
These mobile booths will be used in all wards of Bengaluru to collect samples of those suspected to be infected.
According to information available on the website of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as of Thursday, 4:00 PM, 279 coronavirus cases have been reported from the state, with 80 cured/discharged/migrated and 12 deaths.

Kasaragod, Jan 3: A serving officer of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) was found dead inside his car in Bekal town near here early on Friday.
Police sources said the officer, Rijo Francis (35) has been under treatment after he had an heart attack last year.
Police suspect that the death could be due to heart failure.
