Yadgir, Oct 17: Warning Vijayapura MLA Basavaraj Patil Yatnal for not responding to a show-cause notice served to him for tweeting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over flood relief, Karnataka BJP State president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Thursday said that it is duty of every party worker to answer every notice issued by the party's disciplinary committee.

Addressing the media persons here, Mr Kateel said that Yatnal's activities are monitored by the national leadership and as the ball is in their court, they will decide on what action needs to be taken if Yatnal fails to respond to the notice.

“Besides, choosing not to respond to the notice is nothing short of arrogance,” Nalin pointed out.

Yatnal had expressed displeasure over Modi govt’s step-motherly attitude towards flood-hit Karnataka where millions of survivors are waiting for relief.

Udupi, Apr 2: The Udupi Administration has given its nod to lift and transport watermelons, pineapples, papaya and Mattu Gulla after growers in the district complained that their produce will go waste and start rotting due to the lockdown on account of COVID-19.

In statement issued here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that the administration has already held a meeting with wholesale fruit merchants registered with the Agriculture Marketing Produce Committee (APMC).

It has directed these merchants to purchase 35 tonnes of pineapples, 55 tonnes of watermelons and 5,000 bunches of bananas from growers and sell them within the district and also send them to other districts. Such transportation has been exempted from prohibitory orders, he said.

Bengaluru, May 22: Amid the fourth phase of nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, inter-state travel from Karnataka is now permitted with the consent of the receiving state, informed Praveen Sood, Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General (IG).

"Inter-state pass is not required to go out of Karnataka as long as you have the consent of the receiving state," he said.

The order follows MHA's recent announcement of relaxed guidelines amid the nationwide lockdown.

"Due to lockdown, migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons are stranded at different places. They would be allowed to move as under," read the new guidelines while asking states to designate nodal authorities to facilitate the interstate movement.

The Centre has extended the lockdown till May 31 across the country.
