Chief water analyst Vinod Kumar, patwari Sunil Kumar and meter reader Atul Prakash were suspended following orders by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Education and PWD Minister Manish Sisodia said after a sting operation by a TV channel showed the trio seeking money to clear use of water for building construction and meter reading.

Urban development and PWD minister Manish Sisodia said that "By initiating action, we have tried to give out a strong and clear message to all officials that they have to understand that days of corruption are over and it is a governance of clean politics."

He said cases will be filed against the three officials.

In a massive reshuffle in the water distribution utility, around 800 officials were transferred in the first major decision by the AAP government to streamline the jal board.

The action came ten days after DJB CEO Debashree Mukherjee was shifted on December 28 soon after Kejriwal took oath as Chief Minister.

Aam Aadmi Party had been voted to power in the national capital on a wave of promises, including providing 700 litres of free water per household.

Sources said transfer orders have been issued following a direction from the Chief Minister who is the chairperson of the Jal Board.

They said the Chief Minister had issued specific directions to revamp the service delivery mechanism of Delhi Jal Board, following which the transfers have been effected.

"Transfer orders for around 800 officials were issued today to improve service delivery," officials said.

"All those officials who have worked for over three years in a particular place have been transferred to a different place," a senior DJB official said.

New Delhi, Jan 18: Asha Devi, the mother of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim, on Saturday slammed senior lawyer Indira Jaising for her suggestion that she should forgive her daughter's rapists.

"Who is Indira Jaising to give me such a suggestion? The whole country wants the convicts to be executed. Just because of people like her, justice is not done with rape victims," Asha Devi said here.

"Cannot believe how Indira Jaising even dared to suggest this. I met her many times over the years in Supreme Court, not even once has she asked for my well being and today she is speaking for the convicts. Such people earn their livelihoods by supporting rapists, hence rape incidents do not stop," she added.

Asha Devi further accused Jaising of using "the garb of human rights" to make a living.

'People like her keep earning money under the garb of human rights. I do not need her suggestions... Just because of people who think like her incidents like rape keep happening, she is a disgrace to women," she said.

Earlier yesterday, Indira Jaising, through a tweet, had urged Asha Devi to forgive the perpetrators and had used the example of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, who had forgiven Nalini, one of the convicts who was given the death penalty by the courts.

"While I fully identify with the pain of Asha Devi I urge her to follow the example of Sonia Gandhi who forgave Nalini and said she did not want the death penalty for her. We are with you but against the death penalty," Jaising's tweet read.
