Kejriwal running 'meri marzi ki sarkar' in Delhi: BJP

May 24, 2015

New Delhi, May 24: BJP today accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of running a "meri marzi ki sarkar' in Delhi and said that the ruling AAP's performance has been marked more by "confrontation" than "coordination" as it completes 100 days in office.kejriwal

The chief of BJP's Delhi unit, Satish Upadhyay, listed the controversies which have erupted ever since the Kejriwal-led AAP government came to power in the city in February.

Upadhyay pointed at the row with the Delhi Lt Governor over bureaucratic appointments, the alleged suicide by a farmer at an AAP rally and the row over the allegedly fake degrees of its minister and MLAs as he charged that AAP has failed to deliver on its election promises.

"Since the AAP government came to power in Delhi, there has been no politics of coordination, only of confrontation. Kejriwal has been running a 'meri marzi ki sarkar' and has not only made mockery of governance but also deceived the public," Upadhyay said at a press conference here.

"AAP has also demeaned the bureaucracy by locking horns with the LG over a routine appointment. The emergency session (of Assembly) has been called to further escalate the administrative crisis and create alibis to run away from governance," Upadhyay claimed as he launched a presentation, "#AAP ka fareb", directed against the ruling party.

"The 100 days (of AAP) reflect an era of anarchism in governance and murder of humanity which Delhi had never seen," he said.

Upadhyay said that Kejriwal has maintained a "meri marzi" approach, be it in the row with Delhi Women's Commission or the Centre, a High Court order or a crisis within the ranks of his own party.

"Kejriwal also tried to control the media with the same 'meri marzi' approach. He is failing to understand that media is different from Yogender Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, whom you could throw away using bouncer culture. They failed to coordinate even with the Centre government," he alleged.

"In these 100 days, Kejriwal and his cronies have found fault in the working of every institution, be it the administrative system, constitutional bodies, media, judiciary.

"Now he is out to challenge the constitution itself by challenging its provisions on Centre and Union Territory relations," added Upadhyay.

BJP also attacked the Delhi Chief Minister for his "self- glorification as an anti-corruption crusader".

"Above Rs 100 crore has been spent by this government on its self glorification as anti-corruption crusader. Yesterday also, new hoardings have come up with figures of 35 corrupt officials arrested and around 152 suspensions. To the best of our knowledge, these figures are fudged," Upadhyay said.

Charging that the AAP government had "failed badly" in delivering on its poll promises, BJP said the "public is still awaiting the freebies promised by them, including water and Wi-Fi".

"We challenge them to put on record the files on summer action plan on water and power shortage during these 100 days. We also challenge them to make public the records wherein Delhi Cabinet discussed expansion of water pipelines to unauthorised colonies or rural and urban villages," he said.

The opposition party also dared AAP to bring out a list of arrested and suspended officials along with the cases against them.

"Whatever the AAP government promises to do has a 'conditions-apply' hashtag attached. They themselves said in a meeting of IAS officers that they have set a target of fulfilling at least 40-50 per cent of the promises," Upadhyay said.

"Though 100 days is a short period to judge any government, now that they are projecting their 100 days in office as a new beginning, we have no option but to react," he added.

The kind of mandate AAP was given by the public, the party had 100 avenues to work and serve, but they will never fulfil their promises as they are working "overtime to create administrative ruckus in Delhi to divert public glare away from the real issues", claimed the Delhi BJP chief.

BJP also questioned Kejriwal's silence on accusations that the alleged suicide by the farmer was a pre-planned affair and for his inaction against Delhi law minister Jitendra Singh Tomar and MLA Surendra over the issue of bogus educational degrees despite the universities concerned testifying to the same.

Also, with AAP having planned a mega event at Central Park here tomorrow where the entire Delhi Cabinet will be present to highlight its achievements before the public, Upadhyay said, "Calling a Cabinet meeting in a park is nothing but a cheap gimmick to try and be in the news."

Bhopal, Mar 15: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday sought the intervention of Home Minister Amit Shah for the "release" of 22 Congress MLAs in Karnataka, saying they had been held "captive" and were under "pressure".

In a letter to Shah, Chief Minister Nath said the BJP's demand for floor test had "no meaning" till the MLAs do not reach the state.

He said that the MLAs do not have any means of personal communication and all efforts to reach them have failed.

In the four-page letter, Nath said Governor Lalji Tandon had told him that the responsibility of security of those who will come to meet the Speaker should be with the CRPF but as the Chief Minister, it is his duty to ensure the security of all residents of the state including MLAs.

"I assure you that if these 22 MLAs are released by the Karnataka Police, then I will ensure maximum security by the state government so that they are able to convey their views without fear and take part in the proceedings of the assembly," Nath said.

He urged Shah to use his powers as Home Minister so that 22 MLAs safely reach Madhya Pradesh and discharge their responsibilities "without fear or greed" in the assembly session beginning on March 16."

Chief Minister Nath said that he had been informed that the MLAs had been deprived of all personal communication facilities.

He said that a father was not allowed to meet his son and two ministers who were accompanying the father of the legislator were "arrested" and manhandled by the Karnataka Police.

"My efforts to reach them as also of their relatives have failed which proves my apprehension that they are under captivity."

He said the videos released in the name of MLAs to "mislead" the people of the state were similar. "This proves that all these MLAs are under pressure and they are being forced to act in a particular way," he said.

Nath said that he was drawing Shah's attention to the developments in the state since March 3 which were aimed at destabalising the government.

He said three Congress MLAs, one BSP, and one independent MLA were taken to Gurugram and two ministers of his government were able to "rescue" the BSP legislator.

He said the three Congress MLAs and the independent MLA were later taken to Bengaluru by the BJP. He said a BJP MLA and a party functionary accompanied them.

"Later, 19 Congress MLAs were taken to Bengaluru in chartered planes and the arrangement was done by the BJP," he said, adding that they were accompanied by two former BJP MLAs and a former minister.

Kamal Nath said the number of MLAs in Bengaluru grew to 22 and they are all in the protection of the Karnataka Police.

He said some BJP leaders from Madhya Pradesh can be seen in pictures of the place where the MLAs were staying. "All reported expenses on these MLAs are being borne by the BJP," he said.

He said the BJP leaders had told the media about the resignation of MLAs and they had not presented themselves before the assembly Speaker.

Kamal Nath said he was concerned about the security of the MLAs and had written to the Governor earlier.

"You would agree with me that the demand for floor test has no meaning till the 22 MLAs are in captivity. This is unprecedented that the BJP is demanding floor test and several Congress MLAs have been kept outside the state,' he said.

Lucknow, May 19: The administration of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) has ordered a probe into the cardiac procedure conducted on a corona positive patient in the hospital.

The patient underwent a cardiac procedure without being tested for corona before the surgery. He later tested positive for COVID-19, leading to panic among the staff and other patients.

The medical staff that came in contact with the patient were quarantined on Monday while the area was sanitized.

As per orders from the State Medical Education Department, even in emergency cases, patients are to be screened for Covid-19 before procedures are done.

According to the SGPGI administration, the incident took place late on Sunday night.

In an official statement, director, Prof R.K. Dhiman said, "The 63-year-old patient was a case of complete cardiac blockage and needed an urgent temporary pacemaker. The patient was admitted to the holding area of the institute and later shifted to the MICU for permanent pace making."

He said that when the patient's corona status was found to be positive on the Hospital Information System, she was shifted to the Rajdhani COVID Hospital.

The Director said, "Though the involved areas have been sanitized and healthcare workers were quarantined as per protocol, a probe has been ordered to investigate the lapses."
