KIG hosts grand interfaith conference in Kuwait

Abbasiya: The packed audience of Marina auditorium at Abbasiya witnessed a refreshing and moral boosting event conducted by Kerala Islamic Group (KIG). The leading organization has established a lively presence in Kuwait’s socio- cultural, educational, religious and charity fields for more than 3 decades with flourishing activities appealing to the society.

The conference was conducted by KIG to mark the closing ceremony of the month long campaign with a slogan “Religion is peace not terrorism” aimed to stress the unity of God and humanity and to foster and promote interfaith dialogue.

In the conference 3 eminent scholars from Kerala Swamy Sandeep Ananda Giri (director school of Baghavath Geetha) Rev father Vincenct Kundukulam (professor Mangalapuzha seminary , Aluva) and Janab T. Arif Ali (National vice president Jamat-e-Islami Hind) have unanimously declared that there is no room, what so ever, for terrorism in religion and urged the audience to be vigilant about the exploitation of religion by the politicians for their vested interests.

The “divide & rule” principle adopted by the political powers of the world should be annihilated from the root itself for creating a peaceful, prosperous and harmonious pluralistic society. The unity of all religious sectors especially in India is the need of the hour to fight fascism and to establish communal harmony.

Addressing the audience Swamy Sandeep Ananda said that those who are ignorant or incomplete in following their religious teachings are responsible for religious intolerance and terrorism. He stressed that to stop the fanaticism, superstition and hatred the religious leaders should teach the essence of religion from within.

Fr. Vincent in his speech reiterated the need of all religious sectors to come closure and put combined efforts to stop the exploitation of religion and its sign by politicians for their vote bank. He also urged the audience not to limit their religion only in their prayers and formalities but to engage in socio-cultural and humanitarian activities to up build a harmonious society.

The believers should show their broad mindedness, solidarity and should try their level best to inculcate moral and ethical values in political system in pursuit of attaining a sustainable and fruitful democracy in India said Janab Arif Ali in his versatile style.

The conference was started with a prayer song by a team of KIG Malarvadi girls singing the Malayalam poetic rendering of Quran written by K. G. Raghavan Nair. Engineer Abdul Aziz Al-Duaij (Director Asian Cultural Forum, Kuwait) formally inaugurated the function.

The conference was blessed with the graceful presence of Salah Qadheer Sulthan (Int’l Islamic Charitable Society) Saed Muhammed Al Othaibi, Khaled Abdullah Al Sabae (both from Najath Charitable Society) Abdullah Kolloroth (Indian Embassy) and leaders of various organizations. Mementos to the visiting dignitaries were presented respectively by Faisal Manjery to Father Vincent, Sakeer Hussain to Swamy Sandeep Ananda and Zubair K. A to Arif Ali.

During the conference a flash drive containing 90 episodes of “Muhammed the great Prophet” prepared and compiled by Faisal Manjery was released by giving the flash drive to Chesil Ramapuram by Joy Mundakkadan. The campaign convener Sakeer Hussain welcomed the audience, KIG President K.A. Zubair presided over the function and KIG GS Azad proposed the vote of thanks.

Riyadh: Cricket Lovers are all geared up for the newly launched franchise based tournament - Kingdom Premier League (KPL) 2020 under the banner of Mangaluru Cricket Association (MCA) Riyadh.

SAQCO –SAAD AL QAHTANI CONTRACTING is the Mega Sponsor for the event and PARAMOUNT is the CO Sponsor.

The 6-team tournament is being played at MCA Grounds on Exit 18 in Riyadh beginning from 14 Feb and shall end on 20 March.

The Opening ceremony took place on AL-Mas Restaurant in Riyadh. The trophy launching as well as Jersey launching took place at the same event. Guests from various companies including SAQCO were present.

All teams will play at least one league Match against every other team. Top 4 teams in the table will qualify to play for the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator. The Winner of Qualifier 1 will be heading towards the final and the 2nd finalist will be the winner Qualifier 2 (Played between loser of Qualifier 1 and Winner of Eliminator). The Finals will be played on 20th March.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
