Mumbai, Aug 2: Filmmaker Kiran Rao has revealed that she did not want her husband, actor Aamir Khan, to act in their home production "Secret Superstar" as she felt the character was "creepy".

Written and directed by Advait Chandan, the movie chronicles the story of a child who aspires to be a singer.

Aamir, 52, plays a flamboyant music composer in the movie. "I told Aamir not to do the role because it was kind of a creepy character. The kind of a guy you don't want to hang out alone in the room with. I told him please don't do it, you just did 'Dangal', you were playing a father in it," Kiran said.

She was speaking at the trailer launch of the film here.

Aamir said he was unsure if he wanted to take up the role and underwent a screen test for the same.

"When I heard the story, I really liked it. When Advait asked me to do this role, I said I cannot see myself doing it. Even Kiran said the same. I said I'll do a screen test and if I do well, I'll take up the role. While doing it, I realised I was having fun."

The actor said since the character was quite unlike him, it was a challenge for him to make it believable.

"It is a very unusual character for me. The character is very different from me. It was a challenge for me to play this character and make people believe that this character is like that," he said.

Kiran added Aamir was not the original choice for the role and they were looking for other actors too.

"But when we saw the screen test, all of us laughed so much. We were totally convinced that he can be this strange creepy person. He did it so well that we had to believe. But he wasn't the original fit."

The film features Zaira Wasim, Meher Vij and Aamir in lead roles. This is Zaira's second film post blockbuster "Dangal".

Asked if just like her character on screen, even she faced barriers coming from Jammu and Kashmir, Zaira said, "Honestly, there was no barrier as such. The only barrier I had was I didn't know acting, I had never experienced anything like that.

"The kind of support I have always had from my family, I didn't consider any barrier at all. Aamir sir also guided and helped me so much," she said.

The film is scheduled to release this Diwali.

Washington, Mar 11: Pop star Selena Gomez made some revelations about her personal life in a recent interview.

While explaining the lyrics of her song "Rare" on the 'Genius' YouTube channel, the 27-year-old said that there are times when she feels that she will ever be able to find a suitable partner for herself, reported Fox News.

"Some days when I wake up and I am annoyed and I am like, 'I am going to be alone forever.' But after that 15 minutes go away, I say to myself, 'I know that there is someone for everybody," the singer told in the seven-and-a-half minute long video.

However, she remains optimistic as she is still young and "this isn't the end all be all".

Elaborating upon the chorus of her song, Gomez opened up and said, "self-esteem and confidence is a constant struggle".

"It's getting better with time and age, but it will always be something that I'm working on," she added while explaining the lyrics further.

"So what I think is so important about this chorus is that it's acknowledging, 'Hey, I don't have it all. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I do know that I'm special,' and I think that is a humble approach of saying, 'Why don't you see that I am different?'" the singer added as reported by Fox News.

Touching upon her experiences from past relationships, she commented: "In certain relationships, I've heard and I've experienced and whatnot, I think men and women do it -- especially teenagers and young people in love -- is there's this satisfaction out of hurting someone because you know that they care. Purposefully putting someone down because they want to keep them at a level. I've had someone actually say that to me before".

California, Jun 30: Online video-sharing platform YouTube on Monday banned several prominent channels, including those belonging to Stefan Molyneux and Richard Spencer.

The company banned six channels for repeatedly violating YouTube's policies.

According to The Verge, other channels banned include American Renaissance (with its associated channel AmRen Podcasts) and the channel for Spencer's National Policy Institute.

YouTube began taking stern measures on supremacist channels in June 2019.

"We have strict policies prohibiting hate speech on YouTube, and terminate any channel that repeatedly or egregiously violates those policies," the Verge quoted a YouTube spokesperson as saying.

"After updating our guidelines to better address supremacist content, we saw a 5x spike in video removals and have terminated over 25,000 channels for violating our hate speech policies," the spokesperson added.
