KKMA installs Kidney Dialysis Centre at Kundapur

Kundapur, Mar 2: A kidney dialysis centre (KDC) was installed at Vinaya Hospital in Kundapura recently under the aegis of the Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association, popularly known as KKMA, a social welfare organization of Indian nationals in Kuwait.

This center will be setup in Vinaya Hospital, Kundapura one of the best medical equipped Hospital complimented by highly skilled doctors and professional staffs.

Prior to his a memorandum of understanding was signed between KKMA and Vinaya Hospital.

This is the 12th charitable Kidney Dialysis Center of KKMA. For the people of Karnataka this is the third KDC presented by KKMA. In Father Muller hospital (2009), and in High Land Hospital (2012) also KKMA has installed KDC, that are serving the poor patient effectively.

KKMA's Kidney Dialysis Centers charges only the operating cost from the patients without any barriers of cast and creed of patients.

Nine such centers are operating at present at Calicut,  Trichur, Malappuram , Kasaragod, Trivandrum, Kannur, Palakkad , Kottayam, Waynad  districts of Kerala and two in Mangalore city of Karnataka State.

Chairman of KKMA Mr. Sageer Trikarpur explained that the joining hands with Vinaya Hospital will help KKMA to help needy poor dialysis patients to have their dialysis procedures at minimal cost or less per procedure. A Management Supervisory Committee of KKMA in Karnataka will look after the Dialysis Centres wellbeing.

Mangaluru, Jan 11: A large number of people from the Women India Movement on Saturday staged a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) here and raised slogans denouncing the newly enacted law.

Protestors were seen carrying placards that read, 'Stop diving India, Boycott CAA, NRC, NPR', 'We are humans, not criminals', 'Save India from fascism'.

"Today's youths are tomorrow's future. The present leaders are scared by the youths and are trying to wipe us out. They are scared of the students because they are raising their voices," a protestor told media.

"It started with the triple talaq, then the removal of Article 370 and Babri Masjid verdict. We Muslims kept quiet but now it is a question to our Constitution. We are not here as Muslims but as an Indian Citizen protesting against the cruelty of the BJP government," she added.

The protestor said the Central government is trying to make India a Hindu Rashtra by wiping out all other communities.

"This fascist government is trying to poison the minds of Hindus against the Muslims. After Muslims, there will be the Christian community and then other communities. The main motive of the government is to only keep Brahmins in India," added the protestor.

The newly-enacted law grants citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist, and Christian refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.

Udupi, Feb 10: The throat swabs of three suspected coronavirus patients in Udupi that was sent for tests have come back as negative.

Throat swabs of three persons who got admitted at a district government hospital in Udupi with symptoms of fever on Friday was sent to Bangalore medical college and research institute for test to know whether the admitted persons who returned from China 15 days back had contracted coronavirus.

The 30-year-old man from Kaup taluk had been China on personal work and had returned to Udupi 15 days back. Upon showing the symptoms of fever, throat pain and cold, he was suggested to get admitted.

He was admitted in the isolation ward and was directed to remain under quarantine till the observation period ends and till the test report is obtained.

Another family from Mandarthi, a man and his wife, who had returned after a tour from China 15 days back were also kept under observation at the isolation ward in the district government hospital, Udupi.

Udupi DC G Jagadish has said that there are no coronavirus case reported in Udupi and people need not panic. Sources said that the three tested negatives for coronavirus in Udupi will be discharged from the hospital on Monday.

Udupi, Feb 23: Karnataka's minister for Tourism and Culture CT Ravi on Sunday said that India is losing money as because people travel abroad to visit casinos.

Arguing that casinos are being used by countries to promote tourism, he took to Twitter to highlight the issue, saying, "During my interaction with FKCCI, I had mentioned that many countries have promoted Tourism through Casinos. Isn't it a fact that lakhs of Indians go abroad to play in Casinos? Can anyone stop them? At the moment, there is no proposal before Our Govt to set up Casinos here,' he tweeted in the morning.

He also urged the Central government to stop people from visiting abroad.

Yesterday, the minister had stated that he has no intention of developing "casino tourism" in the state.

"I only expressed my opinion on how other countries have promoted tourism, during a discussion. Casino tourism is one such thing, I have no intention of developing it here," Ravi had told media when asked to comment on Karnataka government's proposal of casinos in Coastal Karnataka.

"What I meant was many Indians go and spend there, our money should be spent here itself," he had said.
