Kodagu district administration withdraws order banning homestay booking during monsoon

Madikeri, June 5: The Panchayat Development Officer of Makkandur Gram Panchayat in Kodagu district has withdrawn the directive issued to the Home stays against accepting bookings from Tourists as a safety measure ahead of the monsoon.

The directive had led to anxiety among tourists over their safety, although it was confined to Home stays in Makkandur GP. Stakeholders of the tourism industry, especially the hospitality sector, had objected to the announcement as they feared such a step would affect tourism.

In a letter to Vikas Acchaiah, President, Home stays’ Association, Kodagu, the PDO said the warning issued against bookings had been withdrawn.

Bengaluru, Aug 4: The heath condition of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa who had tested positive for Covid-19 continues to be stable and he is currently asymptomatic, hospital source said.

Congress leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah who too has tested positive for Covid-19, is suffering from high fever and is currently receiving treatment. He has been admitted at the Manipal hospital in Bengaluru.

"I request all those who had come in contact with me to check out for symptoms and to quarantine themselves," Siddaramaiah had said in a tweet.

Yediyurappa, is in the same hospital for treatment along with his daughter B Y Padmavati, who too tested positive for the virus on Monday.

Yediyurappa on Sunday night (2 August) had tweeted that, "I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self quarantine.”

Mangaluru, Jan 24: Urwa Police have arrested a 27-year-old youth on charges of chain snatching and recovered around 300 grams of stolen gold chains worth Rs 12 lakhs from him, the police said on Friday.

According to the police, the arrested, Vinay Prasad alias Vinod Jogi, a resident of Badaga Ulipady was allegedly involved in more than 10 cases of chain snatching.

Bengaluru, Mar 5: Karnataka government on Thursday set aside Rs 400 crore to construct twin towers building with 25 floors here at Anand Rao Circle to facilitate all government departments to function at one place.

"To facilitate all the Government Departments to function in one building, a "Twin-Towers" building with 25 storeys will be constructed at Arland Rao Circle, Bengaluru, with an expenditure of Rs 400 crore," said Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa while presenting the budget in the state Assembly.

He further said that the road cross-over facility for pedestrians other than metro commuters will be provided through 24 metro stations.

"The construction of 56 km long Outer Ring Road - Airport Metro from Central Silk Board junction to Bengaluru International Airport via K R Puram and Hebbala at an estimated cost of Rs 14,500 crore will be commenced during the year 2020-21," he said.

Rs 1,000 crore budget each have been announced for the restoration of Bengaluru roads for two years, 276 Karnataka public school for their infrastructure development.
