Koppal SP Dr Anup A Shetty moves CAT over his sudden transfer

Dr Anup A Shetty, Superintendent of Police of Koppal, has lodged a complaint with the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) questioning his sudden transfer.

In the complaint, Shetty, who is yet to complete eight months in his current position, has challenged the sudden transfer.

In his petition, he has termed the transfer orders 'not as per norms'.

CAT has stayed Shetty's transfer order. The date for the next hearing is unknown.

Shetty hails from Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada district. He holds an MSc in agriculture. He obtained PhD from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Uttarakhand.

As the SP of Koppal he has earned the wrath of several politicians through crackdown on illegal sand mining and other illegal criminal activates.

Bengaluru, Jan 7: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths held an international bookie in connection with the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) betting scam and spot-fixing racket, police said on Tuesday.

The bookie was identified as Jitin Sait (32), a native of Sonipat in Haryana.

'We had obtained and issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Sait, and on Sunday, he was caught after he landed at the Kempegowda International Airport from the Netherlands.

Mangaluru, Jan 23: City Police Commissioner PS Harsha on Thursday said that Aditya Rao, who had surrendered after planting a bomb at the Mangaluru International Airport, had studied how to assemble an explosive device online.

Speaking to media persons here, Dr Harsha said that 36-year-old Rao, who holds engineering and MBA degrees, had worked in the financial sector for some time, but left, after realising that white-collar jobs were not suited for him and turned towards blue-collar jobs.

He took up a job as a security guard of a reputed college in the district. He also worked at few hotels in the city before leaving for Bengaluru.

Mangaluru, Jul 20:  Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu on the outskirts of Mangaluru will be closed for devotees on the occasion of Nagara Panchami on July 25 due to Covid-19.

Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu is one of the famous temples in Dakshina Kannada dedicated to Naga (Serpent God) where Nagara Panchami is celebrated in a grand way.  The temple committee said that "Nagara Panchami will be observed on July 25. To avoid large gatherings, the entry of devotees is banned. The devotees should not visit the temple, thereby extend cooperation with the temple committee."

On the day of Nagara Panchami, no sevas, theertha and prasadam will be distributed. There will be no mass feeding as well.
