KPCC chief collects hafta from illegal dance bars and clubs, claims disqualified MLA

Chikkaballapura, Nov 25: Disqualified Congress MLA K Sudhakar, who is seeking re-election on a BJP ticket, has alleged that KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao has been receiving “hafta” on a regular basis from illegal clubs and dance bars in Gandhinagar, his assembly constituency in Bengaluru.

“He has no right to comment on my principles,” Sudhakar said. “Everybody knows he has a deep nexus with mafias in Bengaluru and he collects hafta from illegal dance bars and clubs in Gandhinagar.”

He said Congress has been bankrupt of ideas ever since Gundurao became president of the state unit and accused Gundurao of neglecting interests of party workers and even failing to protect interests of party legislators.

Responding to the allegations, Gundurao said they were baseless and that it was Sudhakar who is the betrayer. “I don’t think there is any need to respond to his allegations,” Gundurao said.

“People very well know he is a betrayer of the party and the principles he stands for. The people of Chikkaballapura will teach him a fitting lesson.”

Bengaluru, Jul 17: A total of 3,693 new COVID-19 positive cases and 115 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Friday, said the state health department.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state is presently at 55,115, including 33,205 active cases. While there are 20,757 recoveries, the death toll stands at 1,147.

With the highest single-day spike of 34,956 cases and 687 deaths, India's COVID-19 positive cases crossed the 10 lakh mark on Friday, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total positive cases stand at 10,03,832 including 3,42,473 active cases, 6,35,757 cured/discharged/migrated and 25,602 deaths, according to the ministry.

Yadgir, Feb 27: A four-year-old girl and her four-month-old sibling died after consuming pesticide mistaking it to juice at Kodal village in Vadagera taluk of Yadgir district on Wednesday.

After noticing her daughters lying lifeless, mother Shehnaz attempted suicide by consuming poison.

Khairunna (4) mistook pesticide for juice and consumed it while her mother was busy doing household chores. She also reportedly made her four-month-old sister drink. 

Upon seeing the siblings lying lifeless, Shehnaz, fearing her husband and mother-in-law, attempted suicide by consuming poison.

All three were rushed to Yadgir district hospital. The siblings died while their mother is battling for her life.

New Delhi, Jul 28: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Sadananda Gowda on Monday said that India has proved that it is the "pharmacy of the world" in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a press conference here, Gowda said, "India is often referred to as 'the pharmacy of the world' and this has been proved true especially in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic when India continued to export critical life-saving medicines to the countries."

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandviya said that three bulk drug parks will be developed in the country in partnership with the states at Rs 3,000 crores.

"Three bulk drug parks will be developed in the country in partnership with the states at Rs 3,000 crores. Four medical device parks will also be developed with a government grant of Rs 100 crores for one park," Mandaviya said.
