KPCL season 2 to be held in Ajman in Jan 2016

karrDubai: After the success of KPCL season 1, and Karnataka UAE Floodlit T20 Cup in 2014-2015, KPCL is all sent to host the second edition of Karnataka Premier Cricket League in UAE.

Matches will be played in Ajman Oval Turf ground in Ajman. Tournament will kick off from second week of January 2016 under auspicious of Ajman cricket council.

As many as eight teams will be participating on first cum first serve basis. Teams will be divided in two groups and each team will play three matches and top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. Each team will be having eight Kannadigas and three Indians in the playing XI.

Teams will be provided with the colour kits. Winners and runners-up will get cash as prize money and trophies.

Each team will represent the choice of district or towns from Karnataka. This provides an opportunity to garner fan base for the team from the associated cities or town. Associating with the tournament will provide the team with the exciting opportunity to get together with the Kannadiga community.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
