KPME bill: Doctors call off strike, OPDs to work normally from Friday

Bengaluru, Nov 16: Protesting private medical doctors have called off their strike on Thursday evening following an intervention by the High Court of Karnataka.

A day-long protest that witnessed the closure of out-patient services across the state is called off following a request by high court. “Acting chief justice (H G Ramesh) has given us in writing, a letter asking us to call off the protest. We will be talking to chief minister (Siddaramaiah) and health minister (Ramesh Kumar ) on Friday to discuss the KPME Bill,” said Dr R Ravindra, secretary, Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association.

Dr Ravindra added that, doctors fraternity honours the request by the court and that is the reason for calling of the strike.

Around 22,000 doctors in the city started the protest against the controversial Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Bill. Doctors had decided for an indefinite protest starting from Thursday will closure of out-patient services.

Bengaluru, Apr 18: State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated that there is no need for Dubai Kannadigas to be worried during the COVID-19 crisis.
 
In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that the State government is with the Dubai Kannadigas and their families residing here in the State, promising that they will not face any problems.
 
Bommai also sought the cooperation of all Dubai-based Kannadiga industrialists and employees in the fight against the virus.

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Bengaluru Commissioner of Police, Bhaskar Rao, said that prohibitory order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), 1973, will remain in place for all parts of the City Commissionerate till April 20.

Section 144 of CrPC prohibits the assembly of four or more people in an area.

"Prohibitory order under section 144 of CrPC will remain in force, in all parts of the Bengaluru City Commissionerate for a period up to 12 am of April 20 with effect from 12 am of April 14," according to Rao.

Karnataka, so far, has 258 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 9 deaths being reported due to the infection, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.

Mangaluru, Mar 11: Nitte Education Trust is among the top 50 reputed institutions in the country selected by NITI Aayog for setting up Atal Incubation Centre under Union government's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) scheme.

NITI Aayog has sanctioned Rs 9 Crore to Nitte Education Trust for setting up a full-fledged Incubation Centre at Nitte, of which Rs 2.5 crores has been received as first instalment according to a press release here on Wednesday.

Atal Incubation Centre- Nitte provides start-ups with valuable guidance, technological aid, access to investors, networking and facilitating a host of other services required for start-ups to survive and scale. Start-ups also receive direction through the robust chain of mentors who give sector-specific information and real-time practical guidance.
