KS Bhagawan hospitalised post heart failure

Mysuru, May 18: Rationalist and writer KS Bhagawan was hospitalized after suffering a heart failure during his yesterday evening walk at a park near his home at Kuvempunagar in the city.

According to Dr SP Yoganna, Chairman of Suyog hospital, Bhagawan was brought to the hospital by his gunman at 6:30 in the evening. "He was brought to the hospital with a heart failure due to a condition termed 'sick sinus syndrome' which affects one's heart rhythm. We revived him by installing a temporary pacemaker."

He said that the writer is out of danger now and will receive a permanent pacemaker tomorrow. He also said that a slight delay in reaching the hospital would have cost Bhagawan his life. Reportedly, the writer has also suffered minor injuries to his head, face and legs during the collapse.

Ujire, May 7: A child was killed and four people were injured after a car they were travelling in rammed a stationary truck near Ujire, on Tuesday night.

The deceased is nine-month-old Madhavi, the daughter of Pramod, a resident of Panyalu Ujire.

Pramod, his wife Ashwini and relatives Mamatha and Swati, have been grievously injured in the incident, and are being treated in a private hospital.

The incident took place around 11pm. According to police, the victims had gone to a relative’s house at Vamadapadavu. On reaching Ujire, Pramod wanted to stop the car beside the road, but failed to notice the stationary truck.

The car was completely mangled as a result of the impact. A case has been registered at the Dharmasthala police station in this regard.

Udupi, May 23: Five more persons tested positive for coronavirus in the coastal district of Udupi today. 

They include three men aged 37, 55, 31 and two women aged 48 and 34. 

Among them four are returnees from Mumbai and one is foreign returnee.

With this the total number of covid-19 cases in the district rose to 55.

Mangaluru, Feb 12: Mangaluru City Corporation’s (MCC) mayoral elections will be held on February 28, Urban Development Department has announced.

Yashwanth V, Regional Commissioner of Mysuru will be conducting the election in the city.

The election will be held as per the 21st term reservation roster according to which the mayoral candidate has to be a BCM ‘A’ candidate and the deputy mayoral candidate must be a woman from the general category.
