Kumaraswamy will take a call on selling 3,000 acres to JSW Steel on Sunday

Bengaluru/Hubballi, Jun 9: Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy will review the coalition government’s decision to sell 3,667 acres of land to JSW Steel and take a final call on Sunday. This follows stiff opposition to the deal.

Congress leader HK Patil, who has been opposing the sale, and industries minister KJ George will meet the CM on Sunday. “Based on the outcome, the CM will decide whether to go ahead with the decision,” George said after meeting Patil in the presence of KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao on Saturday.

Gundu Rao summoned them to the KPCC office after they’d been at loggerheads for the past three days. George dismissed Patil’s allegation that JSW Steel owed the government Rs 2,000 crore. Replying to George through a letter which was also posted on social media, Patil released documents to substantiate his claim. Earlier, Patil had written to the CM against the decision.

BJP has announced a three-day protest against the government from June 11.

Bengaluru, April 3: One new positive case of COVID-19 was reported in the state on Friday.

The patient is a 75-year-old man from Bagalkot and has been isolated at a designated hospital in Bagalkot, the State government said.

"Till date, 125 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the state, this includes three deaths and 11 discharges," it added.

The total number of coronavirus positive cases rose to 2301 in India on Friday, including 156 cured/discharged, 56 deaths and 1 migrated, as per the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Apr 21: An 80-year-old COVID-19 patient has died in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district, taking the death toll in the state to 17, Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar said on Tuesday.

The elderly person was suffering from Parkinson's disease for the last three years and died at a hospital on Monday, the minister said in a tweet.

"The person had developed fever on Sunday and was admitted to the hospital. The patient passed away yesterday at 9 am. Last night at 9 pm the death report came, which confirmed that the person was COVID-19 positive," Sudhakar tweeted.

The total number of COVID-19 infections in the state has crossed the 400-mark, according to last evening's bulletin by the Karnataka health department.

Mangaluru, May 9: Dakshina Kannada District Collector Sindhu B Roopesh on Friday held a meeting to discuss the precautionary measures to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the current situation in the district.

The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament and Karnakata BJP unit chief Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister-in-charge of Dakshina Kannada Kota Srinivasa Poojary, MLA Vedavas Kamath and District Medical Officer Dr Ramachandra Bauri among others were present there.

Top officials of the police department, labour department officials and other concerned persons were also present in the meeting.
