Kuwait Canara Welfare Association organizes Christmas party-2014

Khaitan: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) celebrated Christmas under the leadership of its president Anil Fernandes on Friday 26th December 2014 at ICSK Auditorium, Khaitan, Kuwait. Fr. Noel D'Almeida was the chief guest. The program started with welcome speech by President Anil Fernandes. Sponsors of the event were felicitated by Fr. Noel D'Almieda.

The merit scholarships and mementos were distributed to members' children who excelled in the academic year 2013-14. Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 4 Winner Morvin Quadros was felicitated on the occasion. Morvin entertained the crowd with a melodious konkani song. KCWA Online Christmas quiz winner Noel Wilfred Cutinho was presented with a gift. Fr. Noel delivered the Christmas message to the gathering.

Painting was auctioned among audience. Games were conducted for Kids and teenagers. Lots of spot prizes were awarded in between the dance sessions. Christmas tableau directed by Lancy Rodrigues Bondel and played by Rudy D'Souza, Rinna D'Souza & Lancy Rodrigures along with a message was one of the highlights of the day. The music for the tableau was given by Kiran Gonsalves. The Salmiya Choir Group led by Kiran Gonsalves sang the Christmas carols. Ida D'Silva & Group presented a Chirstmas Dance. Children were excited as the Santa made his entry. Goodies were distributed to the kids.

Members' draws were held for the active members present on the venue, and also for the renewal of the memberships for 2015 and life members & Patron Members. Hamper draw was held with fabulous prizes during the event. Alger Mathias bagged a gift for highest hamper sales.

Rajesh Aranha proposed the vote of thanks and Rinna D'Souza offered the grace before meals. Sumptuous dinner was served by Ceasers Group of restaurants. Alban D'Souza & Alger Mathias captured the whole event with their skills in photography. The backdrop was done by Godwin. Anand D'Souza of Illuminations provided the Lights & Sounds. DJ Sujay mesmerized the gathering with his foot stepping numbers. The crowd danced their hearts out as they were roaring for more. The The programme was well compered by Deepak Andrade and Stephen Machado. The programme was coordinated by Rajesh Aranha and well supported by Management Committee Members.

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

Riyadh: On the occasion of 71st Republic Day of India, Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) conducted BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN on the 17th Jan 2020 at KING SAUD Universities King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh. 

This is one of KWARs Prestigious Humanitarian EVENT every year, as we are indebted to serve the society for a Great Cause.

The campaign began at 08:30 am with a theme of Republic Day Celebrations and went on till 3:30 pm. Irrespective of Friday being a weekend and holiday people came in good numbers to donate Blood. The Hospital Staff, The Doctors and the Blood Bank Technicians and others at King Khalid University Hospital were more than happy to serve all those who have participated in this campaign.

KWAR Thanks all the Hospital Staff especially Mr. Salman Baqsh for his introduction of KWAR to Blood Bank and all the arrangements for this campaign, without his support this could not been done. Dr. Zafar Mahmoud for his wonderful support during the campaign and Mr. Abdullah Al Saman for his outstanding Hospitality throughout the campaign. KWAR also thanks all the donors who came all the way voluntarily for this Great Humanitarian Cause. As a token of gesture KWAR awarded Certificate of Appreciation to all the participants.

And KWAR would like to thank specially Mr. Nasir, Representative of Blood Helpline Karnataka, who encouraged many donors and made them to actively participate and donate blood for this noble cause.

KWAR’s core activities was on display on the screen, with most of the Committee members were present at the venue to serve the donors. KWAR thanks all the members, the Executive committee and all those who took their valuable time to organize this event successfully and thank all our well-wishers who supported us for the BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN. We in KWAR wish every Donor and the participants a healthy life ahead, and we need everyone's active participation in all our Future events.
