Labourer murdered for not paying up to sleep in public place

Kasargod, Sep 5: The police have arrested a history-sheeter in connection with the murder of Sharanappa, a native of Shimoga in Karnataka, at Nullippady locality in Kasargod.

murder 34-year-old Maniyan, a resident of Nullippady locality was taken into custody on Sunday on charges of murdering the man and injuring his friend Maruthi, 40, a native of Hassan in Karnataka, while he and a dozen people were sleeping in the veranda of a shopping complex previous night.

Sharanappa, 38, whose head and abdomen were crushed with stones by the accused, was declared “brought dead” though he was rushed to a private hospital nearby, Town Sub-Inspector of police Ranjith Raveendran said. Police said that Sharanappa, a casual labourer, was killed after he refused to part with money as sought by the goon for facilitating to spend the night at the veranda.

In the melee that followed, Maniyan, who was said to be involved in two other criminal cases, inflicted serious injuries using stone, police, quoting eyewitnesses, said.

Police registered a case in connection with the incident, they said.

Siddaramaiah demands unbiased probe into Mangaluru airport bomb case

Mysuru, Jan 22: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Wednesday urged the state government to initiate an unbiased investigation into the Mangaluru airport bomb case.

Addressing media persons here, he said, “The incident has created panic among the public and such incidents are being repeated due to the failure of intelligence agencies of the state”.

On accused Aditya Rao, the suspect in the case, who surrendered before Bengaluru police on Wednesday morning, the senior Congress leader said, “I have not yet gathered complete information about the accused in the case, therefore I would not like to comment about him.”

Home Minister asks police to enhance security of U T Khadar, Tanveer Sait

Bengaluru, Mar 6: Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said he has asked police to enhance the security of Congress leaders and former ministers UT Khader and Tanveer Sait.

"Threat perception has been there for some time now, all the more after the attack on Tanveer Sait. Their (Congress MLAs UT Khader and Tanveer Sait) security is necessary. I have intimidated them. I have asked police to enhance their security," Bommai told media persons.

"After the assault on Tanveer Sait, the police told me that there were some intelligence reports and asked to me to take proper security. They have given one police man for the name's sake," Khader said.

People in this Karnataka city boycott health survey mistaking it for NRC

Chamarajanagar, Jan 3: The residents of Galipura layout in Chamarajanagar city boycotted the annual Community Based Survey (CBS), conducted by the Health and Family Welfare department, mistaking it to be the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Majority of the residents in the layout belong to Muslim community. The people, who mistook CBS to the NRC survey, got into arguments with the Asha workers, who were given the responsibility of collecting information. They even tore the forms into pieces and vent their ire.

The Health Department conducts CBS every year in the urban areas and collects all details including Aadhaar number, residential address, details of family members, health problems and others.

Fifteen Asha workers were deputed for the survey in the layout. A few youths started questioning them alleging it to be an NRC survey and started arguing with them.
Tahsildar Mahesh, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr N C Ravi, with the help of Muslim leaders cleared the confusion. The community leaders assured of explaining it to the residents and extend cooperation to the survey.

Sanghis are planning to approach citizins disguised as health workers and else to get details of residents. such trouble makers should be noted and handed over to police. Police should arrest such fake people and put in jail. such fake people are trying to terrify poors and collect money assuring to help them. So, please be careful.
