Lalu licking Congress' feet, says Mulayam

December 31, 2013

Lalu_lickingLucknow, Dec 31: Attacking Lalu Prasad for going to Muzaffarnagar riot relief camps a few days after Rahul Gandhi's visit, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the RJD leader was a sycophant who was "licking the feet" of Congress leaders.

"Despite all help to riot victims by the SP government, everyone is trying to play politics on the issue. Some persons (Lalu) reached there immediately after being released from jail. He had said he will not allow Mulayam to become Prime Minister in the past. He has said the same thing now. What's new in it?" he said while addressing party workers on the death anniversary of SP leader Rajnarain.

"Wo Congress ke talve chaat rahe hain. Uski chaploosi kar rahe hain" (He is licking feet of Congress. He is behaving like a sycophant)," Mulayam alleged.

He accused Lalu of siding with different parties to grab power.

"The SP men cannot leave their policies and are not (trying to) divert from them. We did not leave our policies for grabbing power like Lalu, who had sided with even BJP for power," the Samajwadi Party chief charged.

On the Muzaffarnagar issue, he said the SP government had tried its best to compensate whatever damage was incurred during the riots.

"After independence, so many riots took place. No government has ever helped riot victims the way in which SP government has helped Muzaffarnagar riot victims. We have distributed Rs 90 crore...The opposition parties know this but are playing politics on the issue," he said.

Asserting that there were good chances of catapulting the party to power at the Centre in the coming Lok Sabha polls, Mulayam asked party workers to reach out to the people.

"You all should go to the people, who have supreme power. By ignoring them, you cannot make me Prime Minister. In politics, power is worshipped. No heed is paid to the weak. So, try to increase power of the party," he said.

Holding that BJP would have some gains in Lok Sabha polls due to Narendra Modi, Mulayam said despite this, it would not be able to form government as no party stood with it.

"Modi will help BJP win more seats..despite that, it will not be able to form the next government at the centre as no party is with it. Only Third front will be able to form government after polls," he said.

New Delhi, May 22: Air India on Friday started booking for domestic flights amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

"We have started bookings for domestic flights," said Air India in a statement.

The airlines will operate a total of 8,428 flights each week for the next three months from May 25 to August 25 as the Central government has announced the resumption of domestic flights.

Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday said that a minimum and maximum fare for three months has been set for the domestic flight services, which resume from May 25.

In the case of Delhi, Mumbai the minimum fare would be Rs 3,500 for a journey between 90-120 minutes. The maximum fare would be Rs 10,000.

"This is operative for three months -- till one minute to midnight on August 24," said Puri at a press conference here.

Puri said that guidelines have been issued for the passengers and airports, which are to be followed during flight operations.

He also said that self-declaration or Aarogya Setu App status on a compatible device would be obtained to ensure that a person does not have COVID-19 symptoms.

New Delhi, Mar 23: The central government has asked state governments to take strict action against violators of the coronavirus lockdown being enforced in 80 districts across the country.

An official statement released on Monday said there will be a total lockdown in 80 districts where coronavirus cases have been reported. The shutdown will end on March 31.

Delhi's borders will remain sealed during the lockdown, but essential services related to health, food, water and power supply will continue, and 25 per cent of the DTC buses will run to transport people associated with essential services.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier on Monday appealed to state governments to ensure that rules and regulations of the coronavirus lockdown are enforced as he noted that many people were not taking the measure seriously.

"Many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously. I request state governments to ensure rules and laws are followed," he said in a tweet in Hindi.

Pune, Jan 21: The Pune session court on Tuesday rejected the bail application of accused Vikram Bhave in the Dabholkar murder case.
Last year, Pune Sessions Court had granted an extension of 90 days to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file a charge-sheet against Bhave.

On August 17, 2019, the court had rejected Bhave's bail plea.

During the course of hearing, Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Prakash Suryavanshi, appearing for the CBI, had in June last year contended that Bhave helped the assailants to escape.

The CBI had arrested Bhave and another accused Sanjeev Punalekar from Mumbai on May 25, 2019 in connection with the matter.

Founder of the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS), Dabholkar was shot dead by bike-borne assailants while returning home from a morning walk on August 20, 2013.
