Bengaluru, May 6: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday hit out the BJP and said its leaders should declare themselves “pagal ” (mad) instead of “ chowkidar ” (watchman) in the interest of the public.

Fearing electoral defeat, BJP leaders, right from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to K.S. Eshwarappa, have let their tongue loose, Mr. Siddaramaiah tweeted.

His tweet came a day after Mr. Eshwarappa made a heinous comment against Mr. Siddaramaiah. “The frustration of being on the verge of defeat is visible in everyone from Narendra Modi to Eshwarappa. For the interest of the public, it is better that BJP leaders claim themselves to be pagal instead of chowkidar ,” the Congress leader said.

Addressing a gathering in Dharwad’s Kundagol during a BJP rally on Saunday, Mr. Eshwarappa had asked, “What if Siddaramaiah’s granddaughter was raped?”

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “By asking ‘What if @siddaramaiah’s grand daughter was raped,’ @BJP4Karnataka leader K.S. Eshwarappa has revealed his inhuman side. Only a person who has lost his mental balance would make such a reference to a school-going kid. He should be locked up permanently. @PMOIndia.”

Bengaluru, Aug 8: Congress is confused on the Ram Mandir issue and in dilemma to take a firm stand fearing loss of Muslim or Hindu votes, according to BJP leader and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.

"Congress opposed BJP's stand on constructing Ram Mandir in Ayodya, it called Lord Ram fictional and even decided to break the Ramsetu. Now, Congressmen are speaking the other way. Congress cannot think beyond vote bank politics which is in its DNA itself. Congressmen think that they are born to be in power," he said while speaking to media persons.

He said that BJP is all for constructing a grand Ram Mandir peacefully and legally, due to its conviction and not for politics. Same was the case with the revocation of Article 370 for Jammu & Kashmir. Anti-national activities have comparatively come down now.

Some people do not want everything going smoothly in the country, and Congress and Asaduddin Owaisi are among them, Joshi opined, adding that the Congress is merely frustrated.

Mangaluru, May 13: Kannadigas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have sought additional flights to return to Karnataka during a video conference with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa here on Tuesday.

Noting that most of the ex-pats in UAE were from the coastal region, they urged the state government to ensure that most of these flights land in the Mangalore International Airport.

Many Kannadigas in the UAE were left unemployed due to the lockdown. “Many of them do not have the means to return to Karnataka and the state government should aid them,” representatives of various Kannadiga ex-pat groups urged the CM.

Yediyurappa said that the government has made all arrangements to bring back the ex-pats, and assured to fulfil all their demands.
