Let Siddaramaiah, Deve Gowda take 'Political Sanyas', says BJP

Bengaluru, Jun 5: In the wake of serious drubbing to the coalition partners Congress and Janata Dal (S) in the Lok Sabha election in Karnataka, the leaders of the two parties H D Devegowda and Siddaramaiah should think of taking ‘Political Sanyas’, BJP Political incharge in Karnataka P Muralidhar Rao today said.

Speaking to reporters after felicitating the newly elected 25 BJP Lok Sabha members to mark the celebration of Environment Day here on Wednesday, he said the overwhelming victory of the BJP that won 25 seats out of 28 and its supported independent winning from Mandya, The Congress party that had a 125 year hold history had been pushed to oblivion.

Rao said similarly, JD(S) National President Devegowda who lost badly to BJP candidate in Tumakuru and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s son Nikil Kumaraswamy tasting a humiliating defeat in JD(S) stronghold Mandya, the two parties had been rejected by the voters.

Bengaluru, Apr 21: An FIR has been filed against a Kannada TV anchor allegedly for organising a guest packed wedding at a resort near Bengaluru last week amid lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Police got the tip-off about the event held on April 18 by locals residing near the resort. Around 20 people were present there to attend the wedding.

The FIR has been filed under National Disaster Management Act (NDMA) and Section 188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code.

Hubballi, Apr 16: Police have seized a vehicle carrying nine members of a family from Dharwad for misusing the travel pass issued by the district administration in Narendra Village and sent them for Quarantine.

Deputy SP Ravi Nayak and his team stopped the vehicle at Narendra village, in the outskirts of the city and found out that they were from Uppina Betagiri village returning from a wedding function using government pass issued for medical reasons.

The police seized the vehicle and sent them to KIMS hospital for a medical check-up. Their swab samples have been collected and sent for testing. The police have asked them to go for a compulsory home quarantine for 14 days.

Shivamogga, Aug 5: Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa on Wednesday hailed the laying of foundation stone (bhoomi pujan) for a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya and said "Kashi Vishwanath and "Krishna Janmasthan temples have to be liberated".

"It is a good day that the foundation stone for Ram Temple has been laid. A beautiful temple will come up, but there are Kashi Vishwanath and Krishna Janmasthan temples which have to be liberated," Eshwarappa said.

The minister said that there is a "sign of slavery" at Krishna temple in Mathura and Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.

"The whole nation is dreaming of Shri Krishna temple in Mathura and Kashi Vishwanath temple. I have visited the two temples. 

There is a sign of slavery. Mosques are there at holy places. When I visited the place at Mathura, I witnessed the wall. When we look at the wall, we feel like we are still slaves," he said.

"While visiting Kashi, there is also a structure of slavery. Dream of Hindus is fulfilled in Ayodhya. One day, it will be fulfilled in Mathura and Kashi. Mathura Sri Krishna and Kashi Vishwanath will be freed and temple will be built," Eshwarappa added.

The Places of Worship Act, enacted in 1991, says that religious character of a place of worship existing on the August 15, 1947 shall continue to be the same as it existed on that day. The Act kept Ayodhya case out of its purview.
