He was addressing a peace meeting organized by the district administration at the Government Higher Primary School, Kalladka, on Friday in the wake of recent communal disturbances in the region.

Holding drug menace responsible for group clashes that often snowball into communal clash in the district, the SP stressed on the need to curb such menaces in order to eliminate the serpent called communalism. “Ganja addiction must be controlled in Kalladka,” he said.

Presiding over the meeting Deputy Commissioner KG Jagadeesha lamented that Dakshina Kannada district has been infamously tagged as a communally-sensitive district due to handful miscreants. Religious leaders from both communities must strive bring them on the right path, he urged.

When people present at peace meeting raised questions in regard to arrest of innocent people after violence, he said that it may have occurred as police were politically pressurized and given deadline to arrest culprit as soon as possible. He asked them have patience till real culprits are nabbed.

As many as 70 representatives from two communities attended the meeting that went on for nearly two hours. Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, who also took part in the meeting, said that it was wrong to colour entire administration as "communal" for mistake committed by two persons.

Udupi, Apr 18: The Adamaru Mutt and Mutt-owned educational institutions donated fifty five lakhs, fifty five thousand, five hundred and fifty five rupees to the PM-CARES Fund on Friday.

Sri Vishwakapriyattirtha Sripada, while donating the amount, delivered the message that in these difficult times in our country, the government has no sources of tax revenue but the cost of various departments especially public health expenses are increasing.

We leave three meals a week and distribute the money saved to those in need. We pray that India becomes the first COVID-19-free country in the world with all our efforts.

Dammam, Feb 3: Harish Bangera, 32, who was arrested in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia more than a month ago after offensive Facebook post went viral, has remained incommunicado.

Bangera, who hails from Goyadibettu in Bijadi village of Kundapur taluk, Udupi district, was an air-conditioning technician for a company in Dammam, capital of Saudi's eastern province.

He was arrested on December 20, 2019 after he posted derogatory messages on Facebook against crown prince Mohammad bin Salman and went on to claim that a Ram temple will be built in the holy city of Makkah too just like in Ayodhya where the Babri mosque was demolished.

Fearing legal action, he later posted a video pleading for forgiveness. “I have committed a mistake. Please forgive me. I will never upload any such posts again," he is seen saying in the video.

After his arrest, his roommate, who happens to be a Pakistani, has reportedly made several attempt to contact him, but in vain. He also has approached many Indian and Saudi authorities in his bid to get Bangera out of prison, sources said.

The Saudi authorities have not even responded to the messages of Indian Ministry of External Affairs. "We've made many efforts to contact the Saudi authorities but they haven't responded,” MEA sources said.

There can be many such people in the Kingdom.

They should be identified and treated in the same way.

These are real terrorists, keep him few years in jail,  they should not be let free. Otherwise they will forget and commit again.

May God help us.

Chithradurga, Mar 25: COVID-19-positive cases in Karnataka jumped to 42 from 33 on Tuesday, with nine cases added to the list overnight. The daughter of G M Siddeshwara, Davanagere MP, is the latest case.

Sources from the Siddeshwara family said that the MP’s daughter, along with her two children, who started from Guyana, first landed at New York airport and from there, she took a flight to New Delhi.

From Delhi, she flew to Bengaluru. And then, she and her children travelled with her father in a chaffeur-driven car on March 21 to their house in Bheemasamudra.

Siddeshwara said that protocol for COVID-19 had been followed and all who returned were under self-quarantine at his house. However, the administration was not informed of her travel history till the samples were given for test, Chitradurga Deputy Commissioner Vinoth Priya R told TNIE. The DC said the test results of the MP’s daughter were collected by district health authorities and sent to Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences on March 22.

The test turned out to be positive for COVID-19 and she was shifted to the isolation ward at Chigateri district hospital in Davanagere. This is the first positive case in Chitradurga. The patient, who is the wife of an Indian Diplomat in Guyana, complained of flu-like symptoms and remained self-quarantined at her house at Bheemasamudra. Her condition was informed to the health department, which collected her samples and forwarded it to the SIMS for tests, results of which arrived on Tuesday evening.

The DC said that samples of family members including the two children, and those working at the MP’s house would be collected and sent for testing to ensure proper protocol is followed. The administration has declared a ‘red zone of a 5km radius around Siddeshwara’s house at Bheemasamudra. DHO Dr Palaksha said that the patient is not suffering any serious problems and is normal. However, we have put her in the isolation ward of Chigateri District Hospital in Davangere, he said.
