LIF education campaign: Essays invited from students

essayMangalore, July 11: Learn Islam Foundation (LIF), Mangalore based religious organisation will be observing a month long education campaign from August 1 to 31 this year throughout Dakshina Kannada district.

As part of the campaign an essay competition in Kannada language will also be held for the Muslim students of Class X and PUC residing in Dakshina Kannada district, stated a press release.

For students of Class X the topic for the essay is “Role of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad in nation building (Desha Kattuvalli Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Pathra).” For PUC students the topic is “Globally acclaimed visionary Dr Allama Iqbal (Jagath Maha Darshanika Dr Allama Iqbal). Only Kannada essays will be considered.

Students are asked to send their essays through the Principal of their respective educational institutions before August 15, 2012 to the following address: The Convener, (Education Cell), Learn Islam Foundation (LIF), Lulu Centre, Falnir, Mangalore – 575 002.

Camp

The LIF will be organizing a one day socio-religious camp for the Muslim youth on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Darul Ilm, Lulu Centre, Falnir, Mangalore- 575 002 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. The camp aims at personality development of Muslim youth in true Islamic spirit. Interested candidates can register their name through phone number 9945913824, stated a press release.

Bengaluru, Mar 29: The State government launched a mobile application for people to track the movement history of patients, who tested positive, before their detection so that they can take precautions. The app will give the date and time of visit to spots by the patients.

The mobile app “Corona Watch” can be downloaded from Google Playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ksrsac.drawshapefile

“The app also has a list of government designated first response hospitals for COVID-19 where citizen with symptoms can go. However, before going to a COVID hospital, people should call helplines — 104, 080-46848600 or 080-66692000,” said a message by Munish Moudgil, secretary, Administrative Reforms, who is also in-charge of the State COVID war room.

Bengaluru, Jan 16: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah and other leaders are likely to make the final decision on the name of the next Congress president of Karnataka soon, said party leader Dinesh Gundu Rao on Thursday.

"He (Siddaramaiah) has met all the leaders and I think soon they will make a decision. It has already been delayed, it should not have been delayed so much. I am sure high command will take a decision on this," Rao told reporters here.

Both Siddaramaiah and Gundu Rao had resigned from their posts, Leader of Congress Legislature Party and KPCC president, after the party's drubbing in the bye-elections held for 15 Assembly seats last year.

Bengaluru, Ju 2 As many as 19 deaths and 1,502 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Karnataka till 5 pm on Thursday, as per information provided by the State Health Department.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 18,016, including 9,406 active cases.

While 8,334 patients have been discharged after treatment, 272 people have succumbed to the virus.

India's COVID-19 tally breached the 6 lakh cases mark with 19,148 new coronavirus cases being reported in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

The total cases now stand at 6,04,641 of which there are 2,26,947 active cases while 3,59,860 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated. 434 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours taking the number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 17,834.
