Lifeguards rescue 6 tourists from drowning at Panambur Beach

Mangaluru, Sept 30: Lifeguards of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project (PBTDP) managed to rescue six youths from drowning in two separate incidents on Friday.

Both these rescue exercise happened in a span of a little over 90-minutes starting 4pm, Yathish Baikampady, CEO of the project said. While the first group was from Vittal near Bantwal, the second was a group of tourists from Bengaluru.

In the first rescue attempt, the lifeguards saved Rohith, 22, Nishanth, 23 and Rajesh, 28, all from Mangalamoda in Vittal. They were among a group of six tourists who had descended on the beach to enjoy the long weekend. 

Yatish said the youths who ventured deeper in to the water were caught in the rip current and dragged seawards. The timely efforts by the lifeguards ensured that they were pulled out of the sea and administered first aid.

Even as the lifeguards were coming to terms with this rescue, they were called in to action, this time to save Ramesh, 28, Raju, 27, and Karan, 28, from Bengaluru. 

They were part of six tourists who had come to the beach. While Ramesh and Karan are from Bengaluru, Karan, a resident of Haryana is currently working in Bengaluru. With today's rescue, the lifeguards of the project have saved 287 tourists from drowning in the alluring yet tricky Arabian Sea.

Bengaluru, Jul 8: Kannada television actor Susheel Gowda has reportedly committed suicide in his home town Mandya.

 According to reports, the actor killed himself yesterday. The exact reason for suicide hasn't been revealed yet. 

The news has come as a shock to many celebrities. The actor was over 30 years of age and had acted in TV shows. 

He played a role in serial Anthapura and was looking forward to establishing himself in the Kannada Film Industry. Other than an actor, he was also a fitness trainer. 

Shocked by the news of Susheel Gowda's death, Duniya Vijay wrote on Facebook (translated), "When I first saw him I thought he is a hero material. Even before the movie got released he has left us too soon. Whatever may be the problem suicide is not the answer. I think the series of deaths will not end this year. It is not only because of Coronavirus people fear, people are losing faith because they don’t have job which can give them the money to lead a life. It is high time to stay stronger to overcome the crisis."

Susheel Gowda has played the role of a cop in the upcoming film Salaga. It stars Duniya Vijay in the leading role.

Susheel's co-star Amita Ranganath said, "I got the news from my friend. I still can’t believe that he is no more. He was such a sweet and soft hearted person who never loses his cool. It’s been very sad to know that he has left us so early. He had the talent to achieve more in the entertainment industry.” 

Director of the serial Anthpura, Aravind Koushik on his face book page posted "Sad news I heard . Susheel Gowda who played the lead in the tv serial Antahpura that I directed is no more . Rest in Peace."

She also shared a picture with Susheel on her Instagram story and expressed her grief.

Bengaluru, April 6: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday said he is following the one-time fasting as per the order by BJP President JP Nadda.

"I am following the one-time fasting as per the order by our national President JP Nadda, on BJP foundation day today, as a mark of respect to doctors, nurses, media personnel," said BS Yediyurappa.

In his message to BJP workers earlier today, Nadda stated, "All BJP Karyakartas to give up one meal on our Foundation Day as a way to show solidarity with people facing hardships during the lockdown. Provide food packets to 5+1 needy under #FeedtheNeedy program. In the next one week, put a system in place where we can provide two homemade face covers to each person at our booth. We should circulate videos of preparation and distribution of such face covers with #WearFaceCoverStaySafe."

Bengaluru, Aug 4: The Central Crime Branch-Bengaluru conducted raids at 35 locations in Hennur and Banaswadi areas on Tuesday morning and arrested seven foreign nationals without valid passports and visas.

The Crime Branch also recovered fake currency during the raid, which is currently underway, informed the police.
