Bengaluru, Jul 5: A complaint has been filed with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, excise department officials and deputy commissioners alleging large-scale corruption in renewal of liquor licences across the state.siddu copy

Complainant Ravi Krishna Reddy alleged that in the guise of refusing to renew licences of liquor shops that fall within 500 metres of national highways, the excise department is deliberately delaying renewal of licences of those liquor shops beyond 500 metres only to collect bribes.

“We have come across disturbing information that the excise department has already indulged in widespread corruption in this exercise. In a few cases, the department deliberately and wrongly refused to renew liquor licences with the sole intention of extracting bribes from such vendors,” the complaint stated.
