LKG student killed as pickup truck rams into school-bound rickshaw

Mangaluru, Nov 22: A kindergarten student was killed and a few others suffered injuries when a speeding pickup truck rammed into the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning at Barya village in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Sanaz, son of Abdul Kareem. He was an LKG student at Munavvara English Medium School.

Sanaz and other students were on their way to the school when the tragedy took place. The victim’s body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem.

Belthangady police rushed to the spot soon after the incident. A case was registered against the pickup truck driver.

Udupi, Jun 18: Two youths lost their lives in a ghastly road mishap involving a vegetable-laden mini truck near Santhekatte in Udupi today. 

The deceased have been identified as Dinesh (35) and Manjunath (21), both hailed from Balkur village in Kundapur taluk.

The accident took place at around 7 a.m. when the mini truck was carrying vegetables from Kundapur to Udupi. 

According to sources, Dinesh, who was driving the vehicle, lost control and rammed into a pole next to the national highway. 

Both Dinesh and his assistant Manjunath suffered head injuries in the accident. They were rushed to Ajjarkad district hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.

Mangaluru, Jun 29: An elderly woman who was tested positive for coronavirus, breathed her last at the designated covid hospital in the city today.

The deceased was a 60-year-old resident of Ullal.

According to sources, the woman, was getting treated for ailments related to liver and heart.

Bengaluru, Apr 29: The Karnataka police department has decided not to deploy its personnel aged above 55 as frontliners in Covid-19 related duty.

According to order issued here on Wednesday by Director General of Police Praveen Sood, it was a precautionary measure as the elderly was more susceptible to the risk of infection.

Apart from this, the order also states that any police personnel suffering from diabetes, hypertension, asthma, kidney, liver-related problems and cardiovascular disease must also be kept away from Coronavirus duty. The policemen can be deployed for station duty.
