‘Love Cradle’ installed in Karnataka railway station for newborns abandoned by parents

Belagavi, Dec 18: South Western Railway (SWR) Staff proved that they were also concerned about the welfare of the new born babies or orphaned kids besides looking after the interests of the travelling passengers by installing 'Love Cradle' in the Railway station in Karnataka’s Belagavi on Wednesday.

Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi inaugurated the 'Affectionate Cradle' in the Railway station here.

In his inaugural address, the Minister said that there were many cases where newly born were left in unwanted places.

"Now instead of leaving the newly born in unwanted place, parents or anybody can leave it in the 'Love Cradle' and press a button beside to alert Railway Manager who will take care of the baby's safety and find a good place for it,'' he said.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: After fake sanitisers and masks, Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have busted another racket and seized fake thermometers worth Rs 8 lakh, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

Based on credible information, police conducted the raid on Prajval Surgical and Scientific store located on the first floor of a commercial building in the first block, Rajajinagar. They arrested store manager Keshavan N, 32, a resident of Kurubarahalli.

The police have seized 70 fake infrared forehead thermometers and 60 batteries used in these thermometers. They were worth around Rs 8 lakh as per the price they charged customers for each thermometer.

Mangaluru, Jul 2: A middle aged man who was battling health issues due to kidney-related ailments, breathed his last at a private hospital.

He was tested positive for coronavirus.

The deceased was a 49-year-old resident of Kalladka in Bantwal.

According to sources, the man, was getting treated for tuberculosis and liver-related ailments, he was at home since 20 days.

On June 27 he was admitted to the private hospital in the city due to kidney related ailment.

With this, the total number of death of covid patients in the district reached to 18.

Mangaluru, Mar 1: Noted Konkani writer and theater personality Richard John Pais died on Sunday after a brief illness, family sources said.

He was 51. He is survived by wife and two children.

Known in literary circles as ‘RJP’, his short stories, satirical writings, and poems were very popular.
