Love jihad', 'forcible conversion' root causes of social unrest: MLC's Eid message

Mangalore, October 23: 'Love Jihad' and 'forcible conversion' are the root causes of communal clashes and all other confusions and chaos in the society, said BJP leader and MLC Monappa Bhandary.

Speaking at 'Bakrid Message', a programme organised by Akhila Bharata Beary Barishat at Jamiyyatul Falah Auditorium in the city on Monday called upon the Muslims to refrain from communal activities.

If Prophet Muhammad was a messenger of peace why do these Muslims cultivate hatred towards other religions, consider people of other faiths as 'Kafirs' and try to convert them into Islam, promote casteism and always support Pakistan, he questioned adding that those who shout pro-Pak slogans cannot become Indians. “No Indian should involve in such anti-social activities”, he said.

Preacher and Manager of 'Shanti Prakashana' Islamic Publication Muhammad Kunnhi delivered the Eid message and explained the significance of Eid-ul-Adha.

State Wakf Board member Y Mohammad Kunnhi inaugurated the programme. Beary Parishat president Abdul Azeez Baikampady presided over. Karnataka Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punarooru, JD(S) leader Haider Parthipady were present among others.

Beary Parishat honourary president Abdul Majeed Suralpady welcomed. General secretary Muhammad Kunjattabail proposed vote of thanks. Husain Katipalla compered the programme.

Mangaluru, Feb 6: In a case of suspected political rivalry, a 28-year-old BJP activist was brutally assaulted by a gang at Munchoor here, police said on Thursday.

Police said that the injured identified as Yashodhar is undergoing treatment at Padmavathi Hospital here.

Four people namely – Diwakar, Dinesh Shetty, Ashwith Kulal and Yashodhara Agaramelu – assaulted Yashodhar and posed him with a death threat. It was reported that the gang had been keeping an eye on Yashodhar’s movements for some time now.

Bengaluru, May 22: Uber said on Friday it has resumed its operations in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Hubballi, in compliance with Lockdown 4.0 guidelines issued by the Government.

Riders in Bengaluru can book UberAuto, UberGO, Premier, Intercity, Hourly Rental, UberXL, Access, and Assist on their Uber App.

UberAuto, UberGO, Premier, and Intercity are available in Mysuru, UberGO and Intercity services in Mangaluru, and UberAuto services in Hubballi.

Uber Intercity operations will be limited to travel with necessary authorisation and within state boundaries and permissible zones only, the company said in a statement.

Uber said it has launched comprehensive measures such as the distribution of PPE kits, including masks, sanitisers and disinfectants to drivers and the introduction of mandatory educational video courses for them.

Bengaluru, Apr 2: In a bid to discourage people from coming out on roads during the lockdown, Bengaluru Traffic Police have inscribed a message that reads, "If you come to road, I'll come to your home."

It was written on the road at Nagenahalli check-post. The message was written by the cops in the regional language.

Meanwhile, nine fresh cases were reported in Karnataka with the count rising to 110 in the state on Wednesday.

Out of the total cases, three persons died due to the virus while nine others have been discharged after recovery.

"COVID-19 cases climb to 110 in Karnataka, with nine fresh cases being reported between 5 pm yesterday and 2 pm today. Out of the total cases, three have died while nine others have been discharged," a bulletin issued by the state health department said.

"Out of 110 cases detected and confirmed in Karnataka so far, seven cases are transit
passengers of Kerala who have landed in our airports and being treated in
Karnataka," it added.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday said that there are 1,834 coronavirus positive cases in India, including 1,649 active cases, 144 cured/discharged/migrated people and 41 deaths.
