New Delhi, May 6: The war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who slammed him for what she described as "low-level politics" after his rally in Amethi, continued on Tuesday.

Modi_to_PriyankaModi on Monday had taken the poll battle to Gandhi family's power seat and declared he would begin building India from what he called UP's "worst-performing district", once in power.

He had also responded to Priyanka Gandhi's barb of "Smriti, who?" by saying "They ask who is Smriti Irani. I want to say Smriti Irani is my younger sister...Look at their arrogance."

In response, she had said each polling booth in Amethi will exact revenge for his "neech rajniti (low-level politics)".

"I belong to the lower caste of society that's why they think my politics is low-level politics," Modi tweeted on Tuesday.

"Some people can't see the fact that the sacrifice and hard work of the people from the lower castes has helped the country reach great heights," he posted.

"This low-level politics will rescue our country from 60 years of misrule and vote-bank politics, and wipe the tears of millions."

Modi has consistently attacked Rahul and Sonia Gandhi in his election rallies by addressing them as "shehzada" and madam and their family as the "raj parivar".

He has also alleged that Priyanka's husband, Robert Vadra, amassed a huge fortune through illegal land deals.

Priyanka’s counter-attack on Modi had come within hours of the Gujarat chief minister's rally in Amethi saying its people would give him and the BJP a befitting reply for insulting her father late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

"Inhone Amethi ki dharti pe mere shaheed pitaa ka apmaan kiya hai, Amethi ki janta is harkat ko kabhi maaf nahi karegi. Inki neech rajniti ka jawaab mere booth ke karyakartaa denge… Amethi ke ek ek booth se jawaab aayega… (He has insulted my martyred father on Amethi’s soil. The people of Amethi will never forgive him for it. My booth-level workers in Amethi will reply to his low-level politics. There will be a reply from each and every booth of Amethi),” she had said.

The war of words between Priyanka and Modi has come as an effort on her part to lift the Congress' sagging political image and dominated the last stages of this Lok Sabha election.
