Make Vidhana Soudha fete a low-key affair: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, Oct 17: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday directed the presiding officers of both Houses of the legislature to make the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Vidhana Soudha a low-key affair.

The chief minister's direction comes in the wake of the controversy over the legislature secretariat’s plan to organise a grand celebration for the occasion.

The chief minister directed Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad and Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy to reduce the cost of the celebrations to Rs 10 crore, instead of Rs 26.87 crore as planned earlier. With this, the plan to gift expensive items to the lawmakers during the celebrations has been dropped.

Siddaramaiah also asked them to organise the celebrations only on October 25. The secretariat had planned a two-day event on October 25 and 26.

With this 10 crores what are they supposed to do ? It does not work out to them.

WHAT is wrong when our ELECTED LEADERS celebrate the DIAMOND JUBILEE OF VIDHANASOUHDA..KARNATAKA PRIDE.... people /kanadigas must be PROUD of...as any one ask when Political leaders visit and crores are spent...what will be the cost ot HUGE PARTY of 75000 bike riding from all over KARANTAKA..do you think bike owners will participate without benefit.... what kind of TRAFFIC MESS WILL BE THIS... is this not MONEY... We people must consider celebration of any KARNATAKA PRIDE with out leaders...

Whether the Secretariat has heeded to CM's advice? and "..... With this, the plan to gift expensive items to the lawmakers during the celebrations has been dropped." Is it only for the time being and will they get the gifts later on in their office in a "Low Key affair" where nobody will come to know.

Foriegn tripu (to study foriegn culture and system and implement in Karnataka), Vidhan Souda habba, seperate religion for lingayats, seperate flag for Karnataka etc etc. All these things must be done by CM and MLA's only. Otherwise the public will get angry that they have voted for non-performers. No other Govt has even thought about this. Great. Really great. Before next election, Siddu, please plan another foriegn trip along with your ministers and MLA's to study the road in developed countries. Family noo karkondu hogi. You cannot eat the food there. Your wife can make Jola da rotti with olle mosaru. Bombatu trip. If you have some other plan, then do not take your wife. Alli bread sigute.

Udaya Kumar chennagi helidiri. Innondu maatu. All these at the taxpayers money. Lancha hodiyodu allade kittu kondu tinnodu. Naachike illa ivarige.

Vatican rejects second appeal of Kerala nun against her expulsion from congregation

Kochi, Mar 2: The Vatican has rejected the second appeal by Sister Lucy Kalappura -- one of the nuns who protested against rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal -- against her expulsion from Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC).

In her plea, she had demanded that her version be heard and her expulsion from FCC revoked.

She was expelled from FCC for participating in public protests demanding the arrest of Franco Mulakkal in the nun rape case.

''I got a letter from Vatican which says my appeal has been rejected. But the rest of the letter is written in the Latin language. So after I understand it, I will respond," Sister Lucy told news agency.

''The authorities are contemptuous of those who make such complaints. That is why the letter is written in Latin. Sister Lucy would continue her legal fight in the courts,'' said George Moolechalil, who has been authorised by Sister Lucy to communicate with the media on her behalf.

A petition of Sister Lucy is still pending at Mananthavady Munsif Court at Wayanad that demands that she should not be expelled from the convent where she is staying.

Unfortunately the Chrisitianity is no more in its originality.

The holy bible has been systematically abused and edited to the benefits of rulers.

The book has been contaminated with lots of editions.

People should search for truth and follow it.

Example, the religion never told to remain unmarried for priests or nuns.

They go against its teaching inveting their own idea against God's teaching.

Dakshina Kannada DC office staff sent for quarantine

Mangaluru, Apr 22: A staff working at the office of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner was sent to quarantine as a precautionary measure here in the city on Wednesday.

The staff reportedly is a distant relative of a woman (native of Bantwal) who recently died due to killer Corona Virus in Wenlock Hospital, prompting the DC office to send the staff for 14-day quarantine.

According to the reports the staff had met the Doctor who was treating the woman and had inquired about her health condition on April 18.

However the staff did not meet the woman when she was in hospital as she was being treated in the ICU.

Only worry is how to quarantine large number of people: Karnataka CM

Bengaluru, Mar 23: The Karnataka Government will impose stricter restrictions till March 31 to tackle the spread of COVID-19, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said on Monday.

''While all non-essential government establishments will also be closed from today, we are discussing on whether there should be a total shutdown similar to what was in place on Sunday during 'Janata Curfew'. We will take a call on this after discussing this with Opposition leaders by evening,'' he added.

Addressing press persons after a meeting with doctors and experts from private hospitals, the Chief Minister said free food will be served to the poor in Indira Canteens all through the day.
