Man arrested for raping, impregnating his own daughter

Bantwal, Jun 28: The police have arrested a person on charge of raping and impregnating his own daughter in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.

The victim, who is a minor girl, lived with her father, mother and a sister in Bantwal.

In her complaint, she stated that at 11.45pm on February 8, when everyone was asleep at home, her father raped her for the first time. Then she continued the act for many months, after which she became pregnant.

The victim finally told her family about the incidents, and a complaint was registered under IPC Section 376 and Pocso Act 2012, against the accused.

Bengaluru, Jun 26: A 60-year-old woman, who tested positive for COVID-19 positive and was undergoing treatment, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the restroom of KC General hospital last night.

According to the police, the 60-year-old female COVID-19 patient hung herself in the restroom of KC general hospital in Bengaluru. She was admitted to the hospital on June 18 along with her daughter-in-law and grandson.

"Around 2 am, she went to the washroom. When she did not return back, her daughter-in-law went to check where she found her hanging dead," confirmed Bengaluru police.

An investigation into the matter is underway, police said.

As per sources, Muttappa Rai’s condition is said to be serious.

Muthappa Rai was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago and had undergone treatment at hospitals in New Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Bengaluru, Feb 26: Karnataka Minister CT Ravi on Wednesday said that time is ripe to bring in Uniform Civil Code in the country as there was a demand for "equality".

"Everyone talks about equality. Those who desired inequality in the past are now seeking equality. The time is ripe to bring Uniform Civil Code," he said.

The Minister said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been a part of the party's agenda since the time when BJP was formed in 1980.

"We spoke about article 370, we have done it, on Ayodhya issue, the Supreme Court has given its verdict. As the time comes we will do it," he said.
