Man held for trespassing into Mangaluru Airport to see off family members

Mangaluru, Sept 15: A man hailing from Kasaragod was arrested on Saturday night on charge of criminal trespass into the Mangaluru International Airport.

The jurisdictional Bajpe police took Arif Kothikkal into custody.

According to a press release, Central Industrial Security Force personnel found Kothikkal using a fake e-ticket to gain entry to the departure gate of the airport.

Arif reportedly fabricated the e-ticket of a SpiceJet flight to Dubai and entered his name along with four of his family members who were to board the flight.

He produced the fabricated e-ticket to enter the departure gate and was caught by CISF personnel while he was exiting, the release said.

As per the standard operating procedure, the CISF handed over Kothikkal to the Bajpe Police on Sunday morning after filing a complaint.

The police registered the complaint and arrested Kothikkal for an offence under Section 447 of the Indian Penal Code.

Mangaluru, Jan 7: The city police arrested a youth on charge of spreading messages against political leaders through WhatsApp and allegedly issuing life threats warnings against them.

The accused has been identified as Anwar, a resident of Peruvai village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada. He was working in Qatar.

On Monday, Yathish from Vittal filed a complaint and based on that police arrested Anwar.

Bengaluru, Jan 1: Karnatak Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol has said that the state government wrote to the Centre to fix the technical glitches in FASTag system.

"We have brought this issue to the notice of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari," he told reporters on Tuesday.

In response to the flood relief by the state government, Karjol said that the approximate cost of roads damaged in the floods was Rs 7000 crore and the government would take up the repair works soon.

Bengaluru, Aug 9: A youth was killed and three others injured as a pillar of an old temple on the outskirts of Bengaluru fell on them as they and five others dug under it in search of treasure, police said on Saturday.

"One treasure hunter got crushed under a pillar, three suffered injuries and have been hospitalised while five are on the run," a police official said.

The incident occurred at a centuries-old Anjaneya temple in Hindiganala village near Hoskote, around 50 km away from the city, on Thursday night.

Suresh, 23, got crushed to death while Manjunath, 23, Srinivas, 22, and Sebastian Raja Rathna, 22, were injured.

Following the unexpected accident, the injured treasure hunters called a 108 ambulance, leading to the entire incident coming to light.

The ambulance staff helped the youth stuck under the temple pillars and took them to hospital.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the Ancient Monuments Act, the Karnataka Treasure Trove Act, and the Indian Penal Code.

According to the official, local youth the village as well as a nearby village were involved in the hunt.

Police are on the lookout for the five treasure hunters on the run.

However, the police official said that it was an old ruined temple and there was nothing there.
