Man killed in truck-motorcycle collision

Udupi, Oct 1: A person was killed in a collision between a truck and a motorcycle at Padubidri in Udupi taluk on Tuesday.

The Padubidri police said Jayarama Acharya (36), a resident of Laila village near Belthangady, suffered severe injuries in the collision near S.K. Auto Works shop, and died on the spot.

The truck driver fled from the accident scene. Rash negligent driving by the truck driver is said to the cause of the accident. A case had been registered and investigations were on, the police said.

Comedian Bullet Prakash passes away at 44

Bengaluru, Apr 6: Popular Kannada comedy actor Prakash, popularly known as Bullet Prakash in the film industry, died due to multi-organ failure at a private hospital in the City on Monday.

He was 44.

He is survived by wife, one son and a daughter.

Covid-19: Liquor bottles worth of several lakhs stolen

Mandya, Apr 3: Following the lock down in the country, people habit ventured into Liquor bottles worth several lakhs of rupees have been stolen at two places in the district.

Miscreants targeted a wine store at Chikka Mandya on the outskirts of the town in the early hours and also made away with the stock from a wine store near Hadly Circle in Malavalli town late night on Thursday. The incidents came to light on Friday.

A window was broken open at Chikka Mandya store and a wall was drilled at Malavalli store to take away the cartons, the police said.
