Managluru: Bike-borne miscreants open fire on clothing shop employee

Mangaluru, Dec 8: Two unidentified motorbike-borne men on Friday night opened fire on an employee of a clothing store at Car Streeet here. The incident took place around 8pm.

The target was Mahalinga Nayak, an employee at M Sanjeeva Shetty Silks and Sarees. Mahalinga, who has sustained a bullet injury on his leg, was rushed to the hospital.

The bike-borne youths fled the spot immediately after shooting at Mahalinga, a personnel from Mangaluru north police station said.

Police said the reason for the shootout is not yet ascertained. They said the video footage from the store will be checked for details about the motorcycle and the two men while refusing to divulge more details.

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy had said that his son Nikhil's marriage ceremony will take place at bride Revati's residence in Bengaluru, however, the wedding preparations are also going on in his farmhouse at Ramnagar.

This comes amid the lockdown in the country due to COVID-19 outbreak. The farmhouse is located at Kethaganahally, near Bidadi in Ramnagar.

Kumaraswamy has said the marriage will be simple and only his family members will attend and no one from outside would be invited.

Earlier Kumaraswamy has said that his son's marriage will take place on April 17 at bride house.

Bengaluru, Jan 30: The BJP government of Karnataka has given green signal to the proposal of hiking milk prices by Rs 2 per litre.

The new prices will come into effect from February 1. Seeking revision of prices, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) had submitted a proposal last week to the state government. Alongside the revision of milk prices, the state government has also hiked the prices of curd by Rs 2 per liter.

The sudden hike in the prices of milk, curd is likely to have a cascading effect on the milk related beverages such as coffee, tea, and milkshakes with hoteliers and eateries mulling to increase the prices of coffee and tea following the hike in prices.

Sources in the state government revealed to DH that out of Rs 2, farmers will be getting a lion’s share as their accounts will be credited with Rs 1. Another 40 paise will be given to the farmers towards the insurances of their livestock.

Another 40 paise will go to the milk salesmen in the form of commission. The remaining 20 paise will be distributed among the workforce at the milk cooperative unions as an additional incentive.

Mangaluru, Jan 20: A teenage girl drowned after a boat in which she was traveling in capsized in the river Netravati at Uliya Hoige, Ullal, police said on Monday.

Meanwhile, four other girls who were also traveling on the same boat were rescued by the locals, the police added. The mishap happened on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Renita, a resident of Miyapadavu.
