Mangalorean Konkan Christians Association celebrates 17th annual picnic in Chicago

Chicago, Jun 25:  Weather was playing hide and seek with colder wintry weather pattern in greater Chicagoland area even though summer was officially began on June 21st. But Mangalorean Konkan Christians Association was blessed with warm sunny weather throughout the day and participants were in great spirit in enjoying the Mangalorean sports and games activities.

The MKCA President, John Dias, conveyed warm welcome to the enthusiastic Mangalorean crowd present.  The day’s activities began with famous Indian pass time, the Cricket.  Throughout the day youths as well as ‘older youths!’ enjoyed playing volleyball and shuttle badminton.

All the attendees enjoyed the food presented by MKCA and its members.  After savoring the variety of food menu items, participants young children to the old were in competitive spirits in engaging themselves in variety of competitions and games arranged by the Picnic Committee Chairperson, Helen D’Souza and past President Queenie Mendonca.

Following were the winners of the day’s activities:

All the winners received gifts from the President, John Dias.  All the participants participated in these activities with true sportsmanship!  Both young and old tumbled and kissed the ground often but their spirits did not fade!  There were variety of snacks, drinks fresh fruits arranged and offered by the MKCA Picnic Committee to renew the participants spirits.  Throughout this events there was melodious music with Konkani songs presented by Francis Lobo.

At its conclusion Patcy Lasrado, conveyed her thanks to the Picnic Committee and all the members and guests who supported this MKCA’s annual pastime.

Mangaluru, May 5: The principal of St Agnes College, Mangaluru, Sr Dr Jeswina AC attained superannuation after 28 years of dedicated and fruitful service.

Sister Dr Venissa AC, the associate professor of the department of Economics, has been appointed by the Apostolic Carmel Educational Society Management as the principal of the college. Sister Roopa Rodrigues AC. has been appointed as the vice principal.

Sr Dr Venissa AC was earlier serving as the vice principal at St Agnes College.

The college and the management has thanked Sr Dr Jeswina AC for the dedicated services she has rendered to the college.

Udupi, May 12: The Coastal Bus Owner’s Association members have approached Deputy Commissioner to permit them to run bus service in the District.

Nearly 80 buses coming under the Coastal Bus Association and they are prepared to run the buses as per the guidelines set by the government. They have also requested RTO officials for permission to operate and are awaiting approval. If the bus service starts operating, many workers like drivers, conductors, cleaners, mechanics will get employment.

Coastal Bus Owners Association President Raghavendra Bhat said that the bus owners must provide services to the public as per regulations set by Deputy Commissioner.

Bengaluru, Jun 4: The Special Investment Promotion Task Force, constituted by the Karnataka government, held its first meeting in Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru on Wednesday, June 3.

The first meeting of the task force was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Karnataka government.

The body is seeking to find ways to attract the disenchanted multi-national corporations (MNCs) which are looking to shift their manufacturing base away from China in the back-drop of the COVID-19 outbreak.
