Mangalurean Amoghavarsha Bhat enters ‘Voice of UAE 2017’ finale

Dubai, Nov 23: 10-year-old Master Amoghavarsha Bhat, a Grade 4 student of Delhi Private School in Dubai has entered the finale of ‘Voice of UAE 2017’ singing competition scheduled to be held on 1st December, 2017 at Sh. Rashid Auditorium, Dubai. Bollywood singing sensation Kavitha Krishnamurthy will be the judge.

Amoghavarsha Bhat hails from Puttur in Mangaluru region of Karnataka. Son of Prasanna T N and Smitha Bhat, who is also a trained singer and dancer from Puttur, Amoghavarsha  is well groomed by his parents into singing from childhood.  Amoghavarsha is formally getting trained in Carnatic Classical Music and is also learning Mrudanga and Guitar simultaneously.

Amoghavarsha has made a name for himself through his singing in Dubai’s Global Village 2017 platform. He has also performed in Sharjah Karnataka Sangha annual programmes and also had won second runner-up in UAE Level Kannada Film Song competition held by the Sangha in the year 2016. His performances in Ocean Kids Extravaganza 2017, 2nd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, Basava Jayanthi Celebrations, KADAM Annual Events, 20th Anniversary Event of UAE Havyaka Sangha and received thunderous appreciation and name for himself everywhere he performed.

•  Second runner-up in UAE Level Kannada Film song Competition held by KSS Sharjah, 2016

•  Semi Finalist in WAFI Superstars 2017 in ‘Kids HQ Super Star’ Contest

Bengaluru, May 19: Karnataka on Tuesday recorded the highest single-day rise in the COVID-19 cases in the state as a whooping 149 people tested positive for the virus. With the spike in new cases, the overall tally has risen to 1,395.

This is for the first time the state recorded 100 plus cases in a single day. So far, 40 people have also succumbed to the virus including three deaths today. 

The new deaths consist of a 61-year-old male patient, a resident of Ballari; a 65-year-old male patient, a resident of Vijayapura; and a 54-year-old male patient from Bengaluru.

Among the new cases, a maximum of 71 are reported from Mandya, followed by 22 in Davanagere, 10 in Shivamogga, 13 in Kalaburgi, six in Bengaluru Urban, four each in Udupi and Uttara Kannada, five in Chikkamagaluru, three in Hassan and one each in Yadagiri, Chitradurga, Vijayapura, Gadag.

Most of the new cases are of the people who traveled to Mumbai in Maharashtra, Solapur, Ahmedabad, and Kerala.

The remaining are those who came in contact with the people who had tested positive earlier.

At present, 811 people are actively taking treatment, while 543 have been discharged after recovery.

Bengaluru, Mar 24: Bengaluru police registered an FIR against a 23 year-old woman who, while in home quarantine, visited supermarket despite having clear instructions to stay at home.

The Vijayanagar police said that the woman, a resident of Vijayanagar, had returned to the City on March 22 after a visit to Dubai."The city police had visited her house and stamped her for home quarantine and instructed her to stay at home but she visited Reliance Fresh on Monday.

We received information about it and the footage. Following this, we registered an FIR against her under section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life). We traced her and warned her to stay at home. We are also consulting senior officers and health officers on whether we have to send her to the government quarantine Centre or not,"the police said.

Commissioner of Police Bhaskar Rao strictly warned the people who are home quarantined to stay at home in public interest. If they were found in public places they will be picked up, arrested and sent to government quarantine."Please log in to get detailed story.

Mangaluru, Jan 18: The Muslim Central Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi has claimed that around 3 lakh people had gathered at Shah Gardan, Adyar-Kannur in Mangaluru on January 15, even though their expectation was just 1 lakh people.

The protest against CAA, NPR, NRC and police atrocities against minorities was jointly being organised by the various Muslim organisations of twin district under the leadership of Muslim Central Committee.

“We had just expected around 1 lakh people. But the Mangaluru witnessed the largest gathering in its history on Jan 15. Around 3 lakh people had participated in the protest,” Ibrahim Kodichail, vice president of the committee told media persons today.

K S Mohammed Masood, president of the committee, added that the event was a grand success and fretful, besides being peaceful. He wholeheartedly thanked all those who strived hard to make the protest a great success and to those who had taken part in it.

“At least 28 organisations have come together. As a result 3 lakh people assembled. I thank all those organisations,” he said.

He also opined that police too had helped to maintain law and order and cooperated with the protesters at the venue.

SM Rasheed Haji, B M Mumtaz Ali, Syed Ahmed Basha Thangal, Kasim Ahmed H K and Mansoor Ahmed Azad were present at the press meet among others.
