Mangaluru, May 29: In a shocking incident, an eight-month-old girl was allegedly strangulated to death and abandoned by the banks of the Netravati river at Bolar here on Monday night. The girl’s mother has been suspected of committing the murder.
According to Mangaluru South Police, Mounashri is the daughter of Lakshman Tenginahal and Roopa, construction workers hailing from Koppal, who are living in a thatched hut in M-farm Camp in Bolar. On Monday, Tenginahal did not go to work as he was unwell.
His wife Roopa left for work at around 8 a.m. At around noon, Tenginahal put his child in a cradle and went outside. He returned an hour later and found his child missing.
At around 6 p.m., the body of the child was found on the banks of the river. The police said that there were indications of the child having been strangulated to death.
