The event is called Paryaya Raja Pattabhisheka. The Nath sect of Gorakhpur has centuries-old association with Mangaluru after the visit of Yogi Gorakshanath and there are several Nath-sect temples on the coast, including Kudroli Gokarnatha and Kadri Manjunatha.

Various leaders, including Mangaluru South MLA J.R. Lobo, VHP South Karnataka president M.B. Puranik, MLA Ganesh Karnik and Bunts Association president Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi received the Zhundi Yatra at Kottara Chowki.

The Zhundi Yatra thereafter proceeded to Kudroli Gokarnatha Temple where the participants and the new Raja were accorded traditional welcome.

It was then the turn of Venkataramana Temple on Car Street to host the Zhundi Yatra, after which the Raja was felicitated at the Bunts Association.

The Zhundi Yatra entered the Kadali Mutt after visiting the Manjunatha temple amid jubilation among devotees. Rajasthanis were present in large numbers as the new Raja as well as the outgoing head — Yogi Sandhyanathaji — are from Rajasthan.

@Mohmamed yousuf, why the sadus are not wearing proper dress you should visit, meet them, talk to them, If they feel like answering you then they will certainly clear your doubts. Normally they live in their circles and come out only during Kumbh mela or

Mangaluru, Jan 31: Mahesh Vikram Hegde, the co-founder of website 'Postcard News', known for spreading fake news on behalf of Sangh Parivar, was taken aback when he was asked to sing 'Vande Mataram' to prove his patriotism by a group of women activists at Mangaluru International Airport.

The video of the incident which occurred on Friday, days after editor-in-chief and co-founder of Republic TV Arnab Goswami was heckled by comedian Kunal Kamra on a flight, went viral on social media within hours.

Hegde was spotted by social activist Kavitha Reddy, and other young orators – Najma Nazeer and Amulya Leona – at the airport where he was waiting to board a plane to Bengaluru.

In a video, the three women are seen coercing Hegde to sing 'Vande Mataram' and prove his patriotism. In another video being circulated, the women are heard telling the journalist that he is getting an opportunity to become a 'hero' from 'zero' if he sings 'Vande Mataram.' However, he refused to open his mouth.

Reddy is seen asking Hegde whether he knew the time when Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi.

Hegde was arrested in 2018 for posting a fake news aimed at creating communal conflict.

Kolkatta, Mar 19: A local leader of BJP has been arrested for organising a cow urine consumption event in Kolkata, claiming that it will protect people from coronavirus or cure those already infected, leading to a civic volunteer falling ill after drinking it.

The police said that 40-year-old Narayan Chatterjee, who had on Monday organised a cow worship programme at a cowshed and distributed cow urine, was arrested following a complaint filed by the victim.

He had vouched for its "miraculous" properties while offering gaumutra to others.

A civic volunteer, who was on duty near the cow shed also consumed gaumutra and fell sick on Tuesday, following which he lodged a complaint with the police against Chatterjee.

Reacting to the arrest, the state BJP leadership criticised the state government.

"Chatterjee had distributed cow urine, but he didn't fool people in consuming it. When he distributed it he clearly said it was cow urine, he didn't force anyone to drink it. It has not been proved whether it is harmful or not.

"So how can just police arrest him without any reason. This is completely undemocratic," state BJP General Secretary Sayantan Basu said.

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has said there is no harm in drinking cow urine and he has no qualms in admitting he consumes it.

His party colleague and MP Locket Chatterjee, however, differed, terming it an "unscientific belief" that should be shunned.

The cow urine distribution as a cure for coronavirus had drawn sharp criticism from the doctors.
