Mangaluru, Feb 10: A 25-year-old woman employee of IndiGo airline and her male colleague have accused a group of handlers at Mangaluru International Airport of assaulting them and outraging their modesty early on Saturday. The accused have filed a counter complaint accusing supporters of the woman of assaulting them.

The incident occurred at around 1 a.m. when the airline staff were returning home after attending the birth day party of one of their friends. Since it was mid night, the man decided to drop the woman her home in his car.

The two claimed that when they reached Adyapady a group waylaid their car. The group included a few handlers at the airport, who were said to be local residents.

In her complaint, the woman said the group, on finding her and her colleague in the car, damaged the car and assaulted the two. They also molested her.

They forced the two to come out of the car and hand over their ATM cards. The group also snatched her gold chain and deliberately rammed the car into the parapet of the road.

The group left the place seeing the woman’s supporters coming to the site in some vehicles. Later, the woman and her colleague were admitted to a private hospital.

Counter complaint

In the counter complaint, the accused claimed that they went to see why the car had been parked at the site.

When they went near the car, the woman and her friend allegedly became anxious and quickly drove away.

In the process, the car hit the motorcycle of one of the handlers in the group and then hit an embankment.

There was exchange of words between the duo and the group members when the latter asked for money for repairing the motorcycle. The duo handed over their ATM cards to a few members, who left to bring the amount. When they returned, some among them had been assaulted by a group of persons associated with the woman, they alleged.
